Just checked and it's not happening to me anymore. When I click the Safari link from a particular post on a long thread, Safari opens w/ that post on top and the rest hidden. (Long way of saying, it opens to the permalink to that post.)

Oh, but I'm on http://ilxor.com - no www

Je55e, Friday, 27 January 2012 04:17 (twelve years ago) link

yep, chopping off the "www." seems to have done the trick-- thanks je55e

You're welcome! I can't believe I was part of a *solution* to a grown-up computer problem.

Je55e, Friday, 27 January 2012 04:23 (twelve years ago) link

its a special time in a man's life when that happens.

remember this day, je55e, and never forget it.

two weeks pass...

When text takes up more space than fits in the post window, the cursor and text I'm typing disappears below the bottom of the box instead of the text scrolling up so I can see what I'm typing. Is this normal and does it happen for everyone? I thought didn't used to do that. I get around it hitting return a bunch of times and going back to what I was writing.

An odd thing happened today: a couple of times the text I was writing switched became invisible. I could see what I'd written before, but everything else after a certain point wouldn't show up, but it was definitely there b/c I could see it when I selected the text. I'm sure that's just a glitch in particular copy of the app on my phone, but I thought it was strange.

been meaning to post abt this-- was gonna try and re-install before posting here but i guess it isnt just me

⚓ (gr8080), Monday, 13 February 2012 00:15 (twelve years ago) link

The disappearing text for me has mostly been an overzealous keyboard/toolbar area where the text is behind the toolbar. Maybe it's not calculating the cursor position re: the toolbar correctly?

valleys of your mind (mh), Monday, 13 February 2012 00:17 (twelve years ago) link

Yeah, this one's a pity. In iOS 2-4, it didn't calculate the heights of the multi-line text fields correctly, so I had to make it deeper than it should have been. They fixed that bug for iOS 5, which means Zing is now set too deep.

It's an easy fix, I'll push out a change soon.

Got the Lite one today. Thanks a lot!

Just sent new version to Apple. Not a huge amount of changes, but fixes some long-standing stupid bugs (including the compose window being too big), adds support for multiple sites/accounts, does a much faster job of bookmarking and checking bookmarks and some other stuff.

Have also whacked the price down to Tier 2, which I think is $2. This will probably be the last version that works on iOS 4-5, next (which am working on now) will require 6.

EZ Snappin, Sunday, 24 June 2012 22:35 (eleven years ago) link

now why would anyone need support for more than one account?

; )

Awesome. BTW, is there a way to search?

calstars, Monday, 25 June 2012 01:32 (eleven years ago) link

Not yet -- it's actually p hard to do and one of the reasons this was taking so long. So I binned it for now but really want to make it work.

i second the complain about iphone 3 running 5 aaaaachingly slow. that was the worst "upgrade" ever - i wish i never would have done it!

Mad God 40/40 (Z S), Monday, 25 June 2012 13:35 (eleven years ago) link

I dont recall I had a choice? Or maybe I needed 5 to run a game I wanted, or something dumb. Facebook runs like TOTAL ARSE on my phone. I'm not upgrading my phone - I didnt pay for it to start with, dont see why I should start now.

Pureed Moods (Trayce), Tuesday, 26 June 2012 00:30 (eleven years ago) link

(heh I will just wait til my flatmate does his insanely regular device upgrade and yoink his discarded 4s)

Pureed Moods (Trayce), Tuesday, 26 June 2012 00:31 (eleven years ago) link

Facebook runs like shit on all models of iPhone. The app is horrible.

Jeff, Tuesday, 26 June 2012 00:38 (eleven years ago) link

otm

the problem is as soon as you start to complain about it well then you're the guy complaining about a facebook mobile app

Pureed Moods (Trayce), Tuesday, 26 June 2012 01:37 (eleven years ago) link

Plenty of people have already been that guy on the app store and it hasn't made the blindest bit of difference. Running it through Safari is an improvement.

Madchen, Tuesday, 26 June 2012 07:54 (eleven years ago) link

I haven't accessed Facebook anywhere but from safari on any iOS device for at least a year now. their mobile website is perfectly one and a huge improvement on the app.

@cavsdan (Clay), Tuesday, 26 June 2012 08:29 (eleven years ago) link

Stet, do you know why the time stamps are an hour behind on Zing? Is it because we're in BST? I have my location set to Europe/London and the time stamps show up right in the browser version.

Alba, Tuesday, 26 June 2012 12:15 (eleven years ago) link

Thanks, stet. Updates are fun.

BTW, I don't know if you're aware, but the ask markers thread will not open on Zing. It's been that way for weeks and I just checked and it's still not working.

Mad God 40/40 (Z S), Tuesday, 26 June 2012 17:08 (eleven years ago) link

Just bought the new app, looking forward to trying it out. Does anyone use it for non-ILX purposes? Seems like it is possibly designed to work with other web sites too, but I'm not really clear about what that means or if I'm just confused.

Moodles, Tuesday, 26 June 2012 17:23 (eleven years ago) link

I've heard you can use it for the sandbox but I never tried.

ratso piazzolla (James Redd and the Blecchs), Tuesday, 26 June 2012 17:57 (eleven years ago) link

are we all downloading LoveCalc, too?

Victory Chainsaw! (DJP), Tuesday, 26 June 2012 18:00 (eleven years ago) link

Alba: Yes, that's fixed in this version. For Apple, "Europe/London" doesn't respect DST, but "GMT" does. Nice.

Ask Markers: Fixed, the server was returning bad data for a post on that thread, weirdly.

Non-ILX: Yeah, the idea is to not restrict it to /ILX -- you can use it for the sandbox or if you have another conversation board. I have one at work I use for projects.

stet, Tuesday, 26 June 2012 19:13 (eleven years ago) link

Is this an update or a new app? It's not on my updates list and when I search for Zing Touch, it says that it's already installed.

Je55e, Tuesday, 26 June 2012 20:04 (eleven years ago) link

I don't think Apple's approved the update yet?

mh, Tuesday, 26 June 2012 20:07 (eleven years ago) link

Oh. I must have misunderstood post(s) upthread.

Je55e, Tuesday, 26 June 2012 20:20 (eleven years ago) link

Yeah, still waiting for review, sorry

stet, Tuesday, 26 June 2012 20:29 (eleven years ago) link

You should all *totally* get LoveCalc too.
