hey, do you guys have any thoughts on what cell phone carrier might get the best voice/data coverage around here? I guess we're actually choosing between at&t and sprint because sara wants an iphone and I don't want to stick with verizon...I have no ability to choose between these two carriers, thus my asking here

I've had Sprint with my dumbphone and it's been fine.

Depends where you are though, when I used to have Sprint and lived in Bucktown I couldn't get a signal at all in my apartment. But I'm sure the service has improved since then.

I have AT&T and I have constant frustration with slow/no data. If I'm not mistaken, the iPhone 5 is going to be on their new 4G LTE network, so maybe that's worth waiting for.

I think this is the key. I've had U.S. Cellular, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon over the past 10 yeas and I've had pretty much equal overall service.

maybe we should just go with at&t then, that's what sara has now and she's okay with it, but she only has a dumbphone at the moment. and at&t gets like the worst ratings ever in consumer reports, which scares me.

I'm sure this is all very interesting to all of you.

Yeah, I am lukewarm on AT&T but Jeff sent me something recently wherein somebody compared data speed and connectivity among Chicago carriers and AT&T was the clear winner. So p much they all suck and you should go w/ the cheapest or one w/ best customer service.
