He's a god. Gods don't worry about petty nuisances like that.

Well don't say he wasn't warned when his bits end up looking like the last sausage on the barbecue.

Derartu Cthulhu (NickB), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 22:35 (twelve years ago) link

I never tire of Amon Amarth.

And 13 votes for Shooting Guns! So great to see.

52. Tombs - Path of Totality (461 Points, 17 Votes)
http://www.metalinjection.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Tombs_Path_of_Totality-604x604.jpg
Spotify
http://www.last.fm/music/Tombs

Formed in January 2007 (Brooklyn, USA), Tombs started as a collaboration between former Anodyne frontman Mike Hill, bassist Dominic Seita (ex-Speedloader) and drummer Justin Ennis (ex-the heuristic). Since then Seita has been replaced by Carson James and Ennis by Andrew Hernandez (ex-Asra). Tombs is the culmination of Hill’s lifetime of work, a crushing, soulful sound, inspired by some diverse, almighty influences: the harsh minimalism of Black Flag , the psychedelic overdrive of Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine, the emotional ice of Godflesh, the sinister rock of Unsane and The Jesus Lizard, and black metal such as Deathspell Omega and Darkthrone

Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Wednesday, 18 January 2012 22:56 (twelve years ago) link

That's because they're a bunch of hipsters. FALSE METALLLLLLLLL

Gamera died for our sins (J3ff T.), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 23:01 (twelve years ago) link

Wow, I thought that would have been at least top 15. Are they really considered hipstrz?

Fastnbulbous, Wednesday, 18 January 2012 23:02 (twelve years ago) link

Then all Decibel journos are HIPSTERS then! ALL OF YOU NO EXCEPTIONS!

Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Wednesday, 18 January 2012 23:02 (twelve years ago) link

amon amarth - it's an amon amarth album

Siegbran, Wednesday, 18 January 2012 23:41 (twelve years ago) link

who is that?

Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Wednesday, 18 January 2012 23:47 (twelve years ago) link

Long, devastating slices of classic riffage, with that dramatic and possessed singing, with that feel that only Lord Vicar (and, obviously Reverend Bizarre) can deliver. It's that sort of music that feels like an ancient painting from a mysterious land. Its beautiful and unsettling but at the same time catchy, heavy and irresistible. It's an album that feels incredibly dense but at the same time calls for repeat listening.- Doomantia

Fastnbulbous, Wednesday, 18 January 2012 23:50 (twelve years ago) link

xp - I think it's Lana del Rey's unreleased debut album

Angrrau Birds (seandalai), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 23:52 (twelve years ago) link

Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Wednesday, 18 January 2012 23:53 (twelve years ago) link

49-26 to come tomorrow

Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Thursday, 19 January 2012 00:04 (twelve years ago) link

oooh, I voted for that pretty high. One of my favorite this year in general.

Frobisher (Viceroy), Thursday, 19 January 2012 00:05 (twelve years ago) link

Weird. That was #9 in my experimental/ambient list. I wouldn't have voted for that even if this was the heavy music poll rather than metal. It's not remotely heavy.

Fastnbulbous, Thursday, 19 January 2012 00:06 (twelve years ago) link

See, I don't really consider Barn Owl metal at all (despite the fact I reviewed them in Decibel).

Gamera died for our sins (J3ff T.), Thursday, 19 January 2012 00:06 (twelve years ago) link

I cry (f)owl.

Gamera died for our sins (J3ff T.), Thursday, 19 January 2012 00:10 (twelve years ago) link

Heh. Will we also see Alexander Tucker, Caretaker, Phaedra, Vladislav Delay, Tim Hecker, Grouper and The Book Of Knots? Peaking Lights? EMA, Austra and Planningtorock? Adele?

Fastnbulbous, Thursday, 19 January 2012 00:13 (twelve years ago) link

Barn Owl sounds like something I need to check out.

(hope everyone's voting in the big poll btw)

Angrrau Birds (seandalai), Thursday, 19 January 2012 00:15 (twelve years ago) link

i blame all the journos at Decibel who are all clearly hipsters

Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Thursday, 19 January 2012 00:41 (twelve years ago) link

Kerr otm on all accounts; hooray for Barn Owl!!!

uncle acid and the absquatulators (Drugs A. Money), Thursday, 19 January 2012 00:45 (twelve years ago) link

Love Barn Owl, but I file them in with faux Western soundtracks like Scenic and Dead Texan, rather than metal.

Plato’s The Cave In Claymation (Sanpaku), Thursday, 19 January 2012 00:45 (twelve years ago) link

Didn't vote for them myself but it's a really really good album.

Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Thursday, 19 January 2012 00:50 (twelve years ago) link

so holy shit this witch mountain album is fab

Mordy, Thursday, 19 January 2012 00:54 (twelve years ago) link
