This blog I used to look at a lot: http://budgetbytes.blogspot.com/
I like that her emphasis is CHEAP. I made some stuff from it but I forgot what. Mostly it's good for inspiration, like 'oh right I can throw these three things I have together and it's a meal.'

To me food & recipe blogs can be this minefield of emotional intrigue due to promise & sexy photography FOLLOWED BY the crushing heartbreak of recipes that turn out like garbage (or just not to my taste). It's the very worst when the ingredients are a spensive. The worst offender here would be http://chubbyvegetarian.blogspot.com/ which everything I made turned out expensive/bland/bad texture/garbage. Depressing. I find 101cookbooks can be kind of the same. Maybe it is just a different angle of food than I'm used to.

101cookbooks honestly drives me insane but i still get stuff from it. now that i think about it i did make a lentil curry from her that was kind of bad, i'm not even sure why i did that as i am good at making lentil curry already. but the "winter pasta" (pesto made from kale) is very good imho

smitten and pioneer women are both really great blogs, and both deb and ree are stellar people

i mean really i follow food blogs to look at the porny pictures of vegetables, and both of them take really really nice photos.

i've cooked a lot of stuff from 101cookbooks, that i've liked - the potato/summer squash/pesto gratin, the potato/squash/kale/radish/harissa roast thing, the vegan mac n cheese. i've made a couple things from smitten kitchen that i really liked too - i veganized her recipe for creamy raspberry scones and they turned out great.

i also cook a lot of stuff from
http://ohsheglows.com/
http://meettheshannons.net
and some stuff from
http://jennshaggy.blogspot.com/ (some good recipes, but the woman who writes it is seriously paranoid and delusional, judging by her last post)
