Haha. My fucking M key has problems. I have sprayed it w/ air, but it's still sticking.

Re that play, I might want to see it? I mean, while I have come to think that Mamet might be a hack, I like his "word nuggets" as you say and I would like to see him put lawyers on stage. But what is deterring me is Mamet's unbearably stupid opinion pieces.

Come buy my coffee table. I'll give you the ILX discount.

I went looking for a picture of Brenda on Flickr and I got sucked into a nostalgia hole.

Party at a friend's house in some dumb small town in NC, circa 2003.

I wonder who drove home? We were very good about not drunk driving.

As I said on an an email and IM: I am not dissing my current looks, but man, I used to be a cutie, but I thought I was weird looking and ugly. If I saw me then in a bar now I'd buy all the drinks me then could put in his sweet pink mouth.

And I'd shave his soul patch.

Courtney looking very pretty there, too. And Jeff looking "last known photo before campus massacre."

what's with the pillows on your laps?!

La Lechera, Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:37 (twelve years ago) link

I think we spent the night? I think that was Sean & Beth's house. God, we were so young!
Xp

courtnoodle, Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:41 (twelve years ago) link

Oh you're right, I think we did spend the night!

I noticed the pillows, too. That's just how I sit.

Though at that particular moment Jeff and I were hiding our erections.

Je55e, Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:46 (twelve years ago) link

I need a beard in that picture. A face one.

Jeff, Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:48 (twelve years ago) link

I won't bombard the thread, but this is a very important picture.

July 4, 2003 or 2004. Hour 5 or 6 of a 14.5 hour drinking marathon. The day Jenny sang to a farm team baseball player that he was a pussy, threw my shoes on the field, apologized to the player, asked that player to pick up my shoes, then called him a pussy again.

lol @ "a face one"

Je55e, Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:50 (twelve years ago) link

I made that my Match.com profile pic once.

Je55e, Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:51 (twelve years ago) link

I think I look better now than I did 8-9 years ago.

Jeff, Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:57 (twelve years ago) link

Jenny can we get that coffee table????

the emancipation of distraction (askance johnson), Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:05 (twelve years ago) link

Jenny says yes. We also just lowered the price to zero.

Jeff, Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:07 (twelve years ago) link

Thank you! Though I will insist on paying or whatever

the emancipation of distraction (askance johnson), Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:08 (twelve years ago) link

When do you want to come get it? I took down the CL listing just for you. And you are paying us in two ways: 1) carrying it out of the house and 2) making it so I don't have to answer emails like this "Let me ask you something does it have storage at the other side too?" or let the person who wrote that email in my house.

We will also be selling/giving to ILXors the following furniture items:

Green desk/armoire set (together or separate)
Vintage Lane cedar chest

The desk/armoire are not that great but would be awesome fix up pieces. The cedar chest is old, but really cool. It's just too big for anywhere we might want to put it.

gonna give her the old fuquay-varina (Jenny), Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:35 (twelve years ago) link

Could you post a pic of the desk/armoire set?

Man, stupid Firefox's dictionary sucks a lot. It doesn't like "armoire" and offers no substitutes.

Je55e, Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:38 (twelve years ago) link

Eventually, but you have seen it! It's been in our apartment since we lived in Glenwood.

gonna give her the old fuquay-varina (Jenny), Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:39 (twelve years ago) link

Thanks again! I can come get it anytime. tomorrow?

the emancipation of distraction (askance johnson), Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:56 (twelve years ago) link

Also, my friend Leigh, who saw Virginia Woolf and had dinner at Italian Village with us a few years ago, has her first novel out and will likely get famous.

I've never met her, but I vaguely recalled your being friends with her when I saw the novel on the front table at Book Cellar last weekend.

Tomorrow is great! One of us should be here throughout the day. Just text when you are coming over.

Do I have to shower?

Jeff, Sunday, 15 January 2012 00:57 (twelve years ago) link

Okay I'll text at some point. Jeff, you do not have to shower, I can take it. Also, I am planning on carrying the table back to our apartment on my back.

Seriously, though, I hope it fits in my car! I should buy rope or something.

the emancipation of distraction (askance johnson), Sunday, 15 January 2012 01:08 (twelve years ago) link

What kind of car do you have? I had that same kind of coffee table (EVERYBODY in the free world has that coffee table!) and I fit it in a hatchback. A Prius, I think. I don't think they're too hard to take apart, if you have to. The tables, not Priuses.

Je55e, Sunday, 15 January 2012 01:18 (twelve years ago) link

You have a hatchback, don't you? If you have fold the back seats down, you should be fine.

gonna give her the old fuquay-varina (Jenny), Sunday, 15 January 2012 01:49 (twelve years ago) link

Yeah but I have a tiny hatchback, a yaris. It should fit, but it could stick out the back a bit.

Sara had that exact coffee table when I met her, so this will be exciting.

the emancipation of distraction (askance johnson), Sunday, 15 January 2012 02:00 (twelve years ago) link

Oh right, I've been in that car.

It will fit, even if you have to leave the hatchback open.

I don't know why I'm involving myself in this.

you guys missed an awesome dance party

La Lechera, Sunday, 15 January 2012 09:25 (twelve years ago) link

Yessssss you did!!!!!

do you not like slouching? (Eazy), Sunday, 15 January 2012 09:28 (twelve years ago) link

Amanda and I IMed earlier and I was going to go (not to dance, just to judge people) but then I got a Garfield grade nap attack at 8:00 and it was over.

Je55e, Sunday, 15 January 2012 16:26 (twelve years ago) link

I was in the depths of codeine-induced sleep. (Still coughing at night (and during the day, come or think of it), not actually addicted to codeine. Yet.)

gonna give her the old fuquay-varina (Jenny), Sunday, 15 January 2012 16:36 (twelve years ago) link

The only thing to judge was that a Daily Show guy was doing stand-up beforehand and decided to try out an extra half-hour of new material. This meant that the club was at capacity, so there was a long wait to get in, until the comedy show let out. Other than that, some club-sapphic pairs of gals, just a few dudes being bros, a few pairs of dancers who took over big swaths of the dance floor, and other than that everyone was who there were and the music was all great.

do you not like slouching? (Eazy), Sunday, 15 January 2012 16:37 (twelve years ago) link

phillip and i watched episodes of archer and venture bros until we went to bed

tanuki, Sunday, 15 January 2012 16:49 (twelve years ago) link

Also guess what -- not tired, only had 1 beer, feeling good. Staying up til 4 isn't as taxing as it may appear! I've done it several times recently, in fact!

La Lechera, Sunday, 15 January 2012 17:04 (twelve years ago) link

I was kidding about judging. And I was thinking about Jeff's advice to someone on ILX, "Dance like everybody's judging you." (who was that?)

Corey, there will be new Archer episodes soon!

Je55e, Sunday, 15 January 2012 17:05 (twelve years ago) link

So guess what? I started a thread on ILM last night and it was not a disaster. Worst Pixies song

Je55e, Sunday, 15 January 2012 17:05 (twelve years ago) link

xp it was my first time watching it. i think i like it more than sealab, but i'd need to see more eps to tell

tanuki, Sunday, 15 January 2012 17:07 (twelve years ago) link

Archer v. Sealab is very much apples an oranges IMO.

Je55e, Sunday, 15 January 2012 17:10 (twelve years ago) link

they share some writers don't they?

tanuki, Sunday, 15 January 2012 17:15 (twelve years ago) link

Marduk commands you to reconsider your opinion.

Jeff, Sunday, 15 January 2012 17:33 (twelve years ago) link

Oh I don't know.

I just meant that the styles are very different, though thinking about it now I can see some intersections. The characters are all kind of jerky and the jokes are often somewhat blue. But Sealab is more about absurdism and non-sequitirs. Archer eps stick w/ their story and characters rather than veer off into stuff like the 5:00 long "UH OH!" bit.

Wyatt Cenac? I know he was in town this week.

Girl I want to take you to a JBR (jaymc), Sunday, 15 January 2012 20:39 (twelve years ago) link

Yeah, we even saw him walk around the building when they wouldn't let us in. He stayed for the dance party too, but was not dancing.
