so apparently one of us is growing a beard

Dr Morbois de Bologne (Dr Morbius), Monday, 16 January 2012 16:14 (twelve years ago) link

Wait you mean there are still some of us without beards?

lost ai weiwei (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 16 January 2012 16:20 (twelve years ago) link

I was gonna say

tanuki, Monday, 16 January 2012 16:21 (twelve years ago) link

i am never gonna grow a beard

irina-camelia begu (lex pretend), Monday, 16 January 2012 16:22 (twelve years ago) link

i think almost without exception i prefer my men to be clean shaven

irina-camelia begu (lex pretend), Monday, 16 January 2012 16:22 (twelve years ago) link

I don't think I'm growing one this winter. Not a full one at least. Pretty scruffy right now but should shave before summer job application process starts.

I'm only growing one as an experiment.

dor Dumbeddownball (Eric H.), Monday, 16 January 2012 16:35 (twelve years ago) link

need to see experiment

Dr Morbois de Bologne (Dr Morbius), Monday, 16 January 2012 16:37 (twelve years ago) link

there's that part just before it becomes a beard but when its no longer really stubble and i havent been able to get past that in a while just because its such a crappy stage

judith, Monday, 16 January 2012 16:49 (twelve years ago) link

Will post a pic when I can get ahold of my Dorothy Michaels glasses again.

dor Dumbeddownball (Eric H.), Monday, 16 January 2012 17:15 (twelve years ago) link

i'm coming up on my six-year beardiversary. NEVER LOOK BACK

donna rouge, Monday, 16 January 2012 17:40 (twelve years ago) link

You've been growing a beard for SIX YEARS?!

dor Dumbeddownball (Eric H.), Monday, 16 January 2012 17:51 (twelve years ago) link

har

i don't like how i look sans scruff anymore, but trimming a beard is kinda more annoying than just clean-shaving

donna rouge, Monday, 16 January 2012 17:58 (twelve years ago) link

I can't grow a beard. I can grow a lush goatee, mustache, and neck beard, but my jaw and chin are patchy whisker tundra.

It's too bad goatees are so dated b/c I looked OK with one.

Je55e, Monday, 16 January 2012 18:00 (twelve years ago) link

Facial hair is not a problem with me. It's pretty much all over the place.

dor Dumbeddownball (Eric H.), Monday, 16 January 2012 18:14 (twelve years ago) link

I'd ask for a transplant but it probably wouldn't match.

Je55e, Monday, 16 January 2012 18:33 (twelve years ago) link

I can't wait til goatees come back. They are underappreciated indeed.

lost ai weiwei (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 16 January 2012 18:34 (twelve years ago) link

soul patches can die a terrible swift death otoh

donna rouge, Monday, 16 January 2012 18:35 (twelve years ago) link

*hides all photos of me from when i was sixteen*

donna rouge, Monday, 16 January 2012 18:36 (twelve years ago) link

TBTH, I almost prefer soul patches to goatees, but I guess it all depends on the face.

dor Dumbeddownball (Eric H.), Monday, 16 January 2012 18:39 (twelve years ago) link

Soul patches are the facial hair equivalent of blazers w/ turtlenecks and ponytails

lost ai weiwei (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 16 January 2012 18:39 (twelve years ago) link

Will probably never recover from the era that made this happen:

dor Dumbeddownball (Eric H.), Monday, 16 January 2012 18:44 (twelve years ago) link

But feel free to attempt to post examples of sexy goatees ITT.

dor Dumbeddownball (Eric H.), Monday, 16 January 2012 18:44 (twelve years ago) link

let it be noted that goatee = mustache + chin, never just chin.

lost ai weiwei (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 16 January 2012 18:47 (twelve years ago) link

The challenge still stands.

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

surm, Monday, 16 January 2012 18:52 (twelve years ago) link

Oh. That was not in response to Eric's request!

I kind of like chin + patch - mustache.

Je55e, Monday, 16 January 2012 18:52 (twelve years ago) link

u look like a straight guy at a music festival

surm, Monday, 16 January 2012 18:54 (twelve years ago) link

LOL, was gonna say "no fair!"

dor Dumbeddownball (Eric H.), Monday, 16 January 2012 18:54 (twelve years ago) link

altho i dunno if straight men wear those hats

surm, Monday, 16 January 2012 18:55 (twelve years ago) link

Yeah, the coloring-outside-the-lines on even that facial hair, imo, precludes it from being a goatee in the way I'm talking about.

(When I'm done with Manuary, tho, I'm thinking of toying with a horseshoe moustache just to see if it works.)

dor Dumbeddownball (Eric H.), Monday, 16 January 2012 18:57 (twelve years ago) link

I am a gay guy at a music festival. It's Jenny's hat. That was 2004 at Intonation n/k/a Pitchfork. That was the day I first time I met Kenan. He gave me slugs off his Jim Beam and then a deep kiss - being silly, not making out.

Je55e, Monday, 16 January 2012 18:59 (twelve years ago) link

Eric, I think a horseshoe mustache could look good on you. On some guys it's super hot.

Je55e, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:00 (twelve years ago) link

u and kenan kissed on the lips?

surm, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:02 (twelve years ago) link

there really should be an ilx gossip rag

surm, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:06 (twelve years ago) link

I can't wait til goatees come back. They are underappreciated indeed.

― lost ai weiwei (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, January 16, 2012 6:34 PM (38 minutes ago)

they are so on the verge

judith, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:13 (twelve years ago) link

We were just being goofy. But yes, lips, and also tongue.

xp

Je55e, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:14 (twelve years ago) link

dang

surm, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:16 (twelve years ago) link

this is kenan though right

judith, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:16 (twelve years ago) link

being goofy

I should try that sometime.

dor Dumbeddownball (Eric H.), Monday, 16 January 2012 19:20 (twelve years ago) link

I am a gay guy at a music festival. It's Jenny's hat. That was 2004 at Intonation n/k/a Pitchfork.

Wow, have we ever talked abt how we were both at this?

lost ai weiwei (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 16 January 2012 19:36 (twelve years ago) link

I've met tons of straight guys who love to be "goofy" about same-sex stuff in a Jackass kind of way. Especially when I worked in restaurants and when I used to go to house parties w/ more 20-somethings. They did it for laughs.

I used to work with two straight guys who put on a show by talking sexy ("sexy") and rub each other's dicks through their pants as a joke. One of them got a new girlfriend who stormed out of the bar in a shit fit the first time she saw them do that. The other guy's GF soothed her, but she was never OK with it.

xp - I don't think we have! It was the first time many of the ChiLX people met: Jenny, Jeff, and I knew each other, obv., and we met La Lechera, jaymc, n/a, and Sarah (his wife, I forget her screen name).

Je55e, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:40 (twelve years ago) link

i thought la lechera was a much newer poster than that

judith, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:41 (twelve years ago) link

I think she was The Milkmaid previously? Not sure.

Je55e, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:44 (twelve years ago) link

I've kissed a couple of theoretical straight guys; no tongue though.

I would like to have organized a gay FAP in Chicago this weekend but I was only there a couple days. Hung out with sarge and his boy on Saturday night and can confirm that he chose well. sarge too.

when I can get ahold of my Dorothy Michaels glasses again.

hmmm, seeing u & Stephen Merchant in a very tall reboot of Bosom Buddies

Dr Morbois de Bologne (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 02:47 (twelve years ago) link

I've kissed a couple of theoretical straight guys; no tongue though.

The straight guys who I kissed or groped or was groped by were definitely straight, but we were also definitely just goofing.

Especially in NC - where I never had a gay friend, so I hung out w/ a lot of straight guys - I was the training wheels gay for bros to be tolerant of. Given enough booze, this led them to want to confront taboos like another guy doing body shots out of his girlfriend's navel or boobs or poking another guy's dick.

Je55e, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 03:09 (twelve years ago) link

Alfred, what brought you go Chicago?
