At any rate, off to NYC with the boy in four hours. He's never been outside of Canada except to Florida once at the end of high school.

NYE was spent going out with friends and then losing those friends and stumbling into other friends, etc. etc. etc.

Customs agent at border was inquisitive re: boyfriend and if we would be returning together, etc. It was odd. His customs agent asked who his boyfriend was and I had to wave perkily from the line.

we hosted a NYE rager at our house with a keg and a band (Salamander Wool) playing in our basement and champagne corks and bottle rockets getting shot off the back porch at midnight- it was kinda hardcore, didn't get to bed until 6 am- Martin was the bartender and I was the DJ so we barely saw each other at our own party . . .

well damn, I wish I lived in Ballamore.

Definitely still in town Thursday evening, but the schedule is pretty tight.

Hey hey! New Year!

I spent NYE with Chinese food & Trivial Pursuit: Book Lovers' Edition.

The former was wonderful but the latter was ill-advised.

spent new years day hosting a waffle brunch which ended in an ill-advised trip to the mall because our neighbor has found Teavana.

which is like the Oprah book club of tea stores. i haven't been to a mall in like 7 years? i'd forgotten about them. they're pretty hilarious for about ten minutes.

I had the best eggs benedict on NYD with the last of the friends in town. No corned beef hash though.

i made eggs, bacon and potatoes on NYD for me and my hungover houseguests, somehow

but i also went to ANIMAL the other night and whoa

two kinds of foie gras! hamachi tostada! balsamic pork ribs with grilled yellow squash that tasted like candy! grilled baby broccoli with crispy egg! sweetbreads! other things!

I am still recovering from Christmas, I think, at least emotionally. There were certainly good moments but some really upsetting things, too. Plus all of the usual holiday exhaustion and intoxication. A funeral on the 27th for a friend who had been murdered kinda capped it all off.

One good part is that my mom's side of the family is finally ready to meet D. -- he was extended an invite to 2 family functions, even -- but he's not quite ready for that. But it's progress!

No problem! Hope you feel better. I awkwardly introduced Morbz to my undergrad roommate who is from NYC and Katherine from The Singles Jukebox and we had a lovely and awkward but mostly lovely time. I think. I hope? I'm vaguely filled with social anxiety.

Last night I attended the most incredible drag show I have ever seen/will ever see in my entire life. Sharon Needles (from the  current season of Drag Race) was thre and at one point during her performance of Marilyn Manson's "Beautiful People" she collected all her tips and put them in a blender with a ton of vodka, which she later drank. This was actually later upstaged by a queen who sang "Part Of Your World" from The Little Mermaid while doing this:

maracuja looks good. only place i can think of is northeast kingdom but it's further out on the L (right off the jefferson stop) and will be very crowded (though that's prob inevitable wherever we go).
