I paid 9€ for a bottle of Kronenburg 1664 in Switzerland in what seemed like a pretty regular bar. No table service or anything.

How did you manage that? Switzerland is not in Eurozone.

switzerland uses both francs and euros. all of our bar/restaurant bills had the totals in both.

I didn't have any CHFs because I was there for a CERN trip, which makes dealing with CHFs a pain.
