encarta it (Gukbe), Friday, 4 November 2011 07:39 (twelve years ago) link

britta is ethereally gorgeous this season, but yeah the funeral scene in particular was amazing.

If Harmon isn't working up to an episode at an Inspector Spacetime convention then he's the most wasteful cunt in the world.

Matt DC, Friday, 4 November 2011 12:07 (twelve years ago) link

I think that Inspector Spacetime has been brought back because of the frankly cray cray fandom that has already sprung up around it. Just go on tumblr if you don't believe me.

bouquet beatdown (Nicole), Friday, 4 November 2011 12:35 (twelve years ago) link

^^^

This. I can understand, given the ratings and Harmon's overal approach, why he tosses bones to the rabid fans like this, but the Inspector Spacetime thing seems way too forced and overdone. I was actually fine with it until last night's (otherwise incredible) episode when Troy and Abed just randomly called each other Constable and Inspector.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 4 November 2011 12:48 (twelve years ago) link

How quick is the turnaround on these things? Have they seriously had time to rewrite and refilm bits based on fan reaction already?

Matt DC, Friday, 4 November 2011 12:54 (twelve years ago) link

Judging by the interviews upthread, Elementary Chaos Theory and the Halloween one had already been filmed when the series started. Calling bullshit on this theory.

Matt DC, Friday, 4 November 2011 12:55 (twelve years ago) link

So do you have filming dates for last nights? Like I said, last night was the first time it actually felt kind of forced. All I'm saying is that it needs to lead to a big payoff.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 4 November 2011 13:05 (twelve years ago) link

Why?

dense macabre (DJP), Friday, 4 November 2011 13:25 (twelve years ago) link

Because its getting run into the ground and I'd be a lot more okay with it if there's a payoff.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 4 November 2011 13:26 (twelve years ago) link

I don't really see it as being run into the ground any more than any other facet of Troy and Abed's relationship; look at it like it's their handshake.

dense macabre (DJP), Friday, 4 November 2011 13:30 (twelve years ago) link

It isn't really getting run into the ground. I haven't seen the most recent episode but they've barely mentioned it up to now, only hinted at it.

Matt DC, Friday, 4 November 2011 13:30 (twelve years ago) link

Of all of the batshit criticisms thrown around itt, its kind of funny that you guys are butthurt about me thinking the Inspector Spacetime thing is a little overdone.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 4 November 2011 13:32 (twelve years ago) link

you go from 0 to 11 faster than any other poster on this site

dense macabre (DJP), Friday, 4 November 2011 13:33 (twelve years ago) link

I've known goofy dudes like Troy and Abed my whole life who would run shit into the ground with no hope of a payoff in sight.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 4 November 2011 13:34 (twelve years ago) link

Because I said I find it funny? You're an asshole.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 4 November 2011 13:34 (twelve years ago) link

I expressed a realtively minor criticism of the show and you two were immediately, YOU ARE WRONG. Like, idgi.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 4 November 2011 13:35 (twelve years ago) link

I just don't understand how the fuck saying:

Of all of the batshit criticisms thrown around itt, its kind of funny that you guys are butthurt about me thinking the Inspector Spacetime thing is a little overdone.

means I'm at 11.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 4 November 2011 13:38 (twelve years ago) link

But I know DJP loves to provoke me, so grain of salt and all.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 4 November 2011 13:39 (twelve years ago) link

what the hell just happened here

You tell me. I get that you, for whatever reason, think I'm a worthless poster, but I'm not sure why you felt the need to call me out for being "at 11" for expressing an opinion.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 4 November 2011 13:43 (twelve years ago) link

I'm just wondering if its my word choice or your reading comprehension that is causing you to read a tone that isn't intended.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 4 November 2011 13:49 (twelve years ago) link

I'm wondering the same thing! I had a mild chuckle at you describing a lukewarm disagreement as being "butthurt" and then you ACTUALLY go from 0 to 11 in the most ironic way possible... It's kind of amazing.

dense macabre (DJP), Friday, 4 November 2011 13:52 (twelve years ago) link

And I'm mostly sitting here bemused and slightly concerned.

dense macabre (DJP), Friday, 4 November 2011 13:53 (twelve years ago) link

loooooool Matt DC

٩(̾●̮̮̃̾•̃̾)۶ (sic), Friday, 4 November 2011 13:57 (twelve years ago) link

Apparently I need flashign Drudge sirens for you if I ever use even a hint of sarcasm in my posts. Its so funny that for a board so dependent on snark, irony, and sarcasm, that you have such a hard time comprehending it. Of course I didn't think anyone was seriously butthurt over this. I just was laughing that there were such quick defenders of the gag. It was like I said Inspector Spacetime was ruining the show or something.

I mean, if you honestly think I was sitting here like seething in rage or w/e, maybe you are the one that needs to take a break from the internet because you're seeing things that aren't there. I find it pretty hilarious that every time I drop a sarcastic post, I get a contingent of you, Whiney, Shipz, or sarge telling me I'm angry.

I was going to say this is not in the spirit of Community

but it kinda is.. Jeff and Pierce! Carry on.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Friday, 4 November 2011 13:59 (twelve years ago) link

(Will there *always* be Paninis?)

Seriously though - throwing in a bunch of fake-sounding details is a perfect way to make people think you're crazy!

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Friday, 4 November 2011 14:00 (twelve years ago) link

lol my post wasn't serious either

there wasn't a serious post about this until you went crazy and started swearing at me

dense macabre (DJP), Friday, 4 November 2011 14:00 (twelve years ago) link

I called you an asshole because I felt you were needlessly calling me out for being angry or whatever it was you meant by being "at 11". You shifted it from talking about the show to making personal attacks. Not that that excuses me calling you an asshole, but its pretty lol for you to needle me and then claim I "went crazy".

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 4 November 2011 14:04 (twelve years ago) link

the astronaut paninis and Blitler reminded me of a thing from X-Files. something about Mulder getting threatened by a bunch or people and one was wearing a convincing Nixon mask (or something like that) so that if he told anybody about what happened he'd sound totally nutso.

Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Friday, 4 November 2011 14:16 (twelve years ago) link

anyone can go from 0-11. it takes a special poster to take it from 11 back to 0.

Mordy, Friday, 4 November 2011 14:25 (twelve years ago) link

That whole sequence made waiting for the return of the air conditioner repair annex worth it.

dense macabre (DJP), Friday, 4 November 2011 14:25 (twelve years ago) link

But now that Troy has rebuffed their advances, does this mean no more John Goodman? I hope not.

Tarfumes The Escape Goat, Friday, 4 November 2011 14:39 (twelve years ago) link

I think the cut to Goodman saying it isn't over is a good sign he'll be back. Really missing John Oliver this season.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 4 November 2011 14:40 (twelve years ago) link

I loved that they showed the room that "room temperature" is based on.

"I can't feel where the air ends and my skin begins!"

Johnny Fever, Friday, 4 November 2011 14:56 (twelve years ago) link

I gotta stop watching the teasers/promos; I'd already heard the "this is The Room" joke about 10 times. But I liked where they went with it.

Tarfumes The Escape Goat, Friday, 4 November 2011 14:59 (twelve years ago) link

god i love britta

"in my psychology class, we've been reading about this 'edible complex,' where the son wants to kill his father and do something to his mother - i haven't finished the chapter yet."

Yeah, the whole Britta thing was A++++ this ep.

"You can excuse racism????"

dense macabre (DJP), Friday, 4 November 2011 15:06 (twelve years ago) link

this might actually be my 2nd fave episode so far this season, after the multiple timelines ep. pierce's dad was so weird and creepy and kind of looked like the dean

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 4 November 2011 15:08 (twelve years ago) link

I could not stop lolling at the ivory hair. I read about it on the A/V Club but erroneously thought they just meant the color and that that was what was making it photograph so strangely.

dense macabre (DJP), Friday, 4 November 2011 15:10 (twelve years ago) link

The ivory hair was genius, as was his spiel about the Swedes.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 4 November 2011 15:12 (twelve years ago) link

Man is there still no John Oliver? Series has been great so far but his character is one of my favourites outside the study group.

Matt DC, Friday, 4 November 2011 15:18 (twelve years ago) link

Seriously though - throwing in a bunch of fake-sounding details is a perfect way to make people think you're crazy!

I got even geekier and flashed back to that issue of ALL-STAR SUPERMAN where Luther ended his interview with Clark with a baboon wearing a Superman outfit and claimed to have singlehandedly destroyed the credibility of the Daily Planet.

Emile Zola predicts World War I and then he dies. (R Baez), Friday, 4 November 2011 15:54 (twelve years ago) link

I saw one episode of this - the Call of Duty one - and holy fuck it was turgid rubbish. Is this a show that only americans get?
