According to Temple Grandin (Animals in Translation, I think), the genes that makes animals white often makes animals crazy or have other issues. The whiter the animal, the bigger/more numerous the problems.

I think white cats with blue eyes have a high chance of deafness, but I might be misremembering something.

I like dolphins, but people who LOVE dolphins really annoy me. Not love as in want to have sex with - although those people are annoying, too - but people who say they have like, a special spiritual connection to dolphins and wear dolphin jewelry and have "I brake for dolphins" stickers on their cars and dolphin tattoos. I grew up at the beach so maybe this is a coastal phenomenon.
