which city for GTA 5?

I still have this idea of combining the different Vice Cities and Liberty Cities into a time-travel game -- where you're walking through a Disney Times Square, enter the subway, and come out in Taxi Driver 70s. And in BTTF style, you could have the mayor in the 70s look like the homeless pedestrian in 2010, etc.

i've said this on like every rockstar thread but gta4 didn't have enough driving in it!

i actually went back and tried to reopen my gta iv save and it was so unfun in the first 10 minutes that i just popped in saints row 2 and shot bazookas at gas stations for a while

gta iv was SUCH a letdown. still havent forgiven them for giving you three clothing stores, and making two of them identical. WHY DID YOU DO THAT

I was bummed about GTA4 mostly because The Warriors' NYC was so much more real.

gta iv got too up its own ass with the story and forgot to tell it via interesting and varied mission design. they kinda woke up and did it on the dlc's tho

I liked the Warriors, though I never played it. It was dark, had neat sidegames, got to play as different characters, wasn't all "there are 12 targets in this warehouse before you reach the guy who jumps through a window and gets away or dies." There was one fight that pretty much felt like what it would be like to crawl around in a dark vacant lot, looking for a brick to throw at some unknown perpetrator.

Plus you could hang out in the Warriors clubhouse, work out on the punching bag and chill with some Joe Walsh tunes.

I played it through to the end.

I'm bored of LA as a setting for open world video games but I like that they widened the scope a bit, a la San Andreas. You get the beach and the hills and the orange groves and the barrio and etc.

otm, Gay Tony was actually gtaiv for me. in fact my 360 also seems to think that too.

seriously half of gtaIV was drive here, get out, listen to someone talk, shoot six guys, escape wanted level, collect $600.

The thing that needs the most work is just the core shooting mechanics. Red Dead was a huge improvement, and even that game is a little wonky compared to something great. And there's no reason why GTA couldn't have a good brawling system like Arkham City's.

i saw someone describe the arkham city fighting like having an actual fighting game in the middle of an open world game and that's pretty otm. it's an easy to say a game doesn't have as good combat as AC bc afaic pretty much no games do.

Yeah but they could at least have fighting as good as Arkham Asylum. Or The Warriors even!

nah i don't care for melee combat in gta5, just give me vehicles and stuff to fuck about with.
