You should have it soon before yard sale season ends.
John, would you please please say cray-cray next time I see you?

When did you/we meet gabbneb? Was he at the July 4 NYC FAP?
― n/a, Thursday, 27 September 2007 15:56 (sixteen years ago) link
2. Kenan, shut up.
whoa, what? Who am I irritating now?
― kenan, Thursday, 27 September 2007 15:58 (sixteen years ago) link
Yes I will.
― jaymc, Thursday, 27 September 2007 15:58 (sixteen years ago) link
I think by the time you guys have a yard sale, I'll have already thrown away or donated the things in my apartment that I could've sold.
― jaymc, Thursday, 27 September 2007 15:59 (sixteen years ago) link
Hmmm. I just walked by the office where all 3 attys. are meeting w/ a sexual harassment client (plaintiff) and I heard the assoc. say "maybe Jesse!" and everyone laughed.
― Jesse, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:00 (sixteen years ago) link
I'm just kidding, Kenan! HUGGLEZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzz....
I be sensitive, too. That's lack of sleep + more awake than my body has any natural inclination to be.
Would I sound stupid if I admit that I have never heard of a nalgene? I mean, I googled it, it's all cool now, but this morning was my first encounter with that brand/word.
― kenan, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:03 (sixteen years ago) link
Hey. Jody, Lindsay, Lauren, and I are all moving November 1, so I'm guessing we'd all have some stuff for a mid-October yard sale. (And if anyone knows anyone who would like to live in our arty lofty space, act fast because it's getting shown around already.)
New Piano guy from the U.P. sounds like a piano playa.
― Eazy, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:06 (sixteen years ago) link
Kenan doesn't know any hippies or ski/hike/backpack dudes.
― Jordan, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:06 (sixteen years ago) link
i don't know
nalgene is a household name for me, to the point where ANY reusable drinking vessel can be referred to as a "nalgene." but that's outdoorsy stuff. also, maybe if you were a lab scientist you would be familiar with nalgene.
― river wolf, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:07 (sixteen years ago) link
Lab Scientist: "Hold on dude, let me fill up my Pyrex."
― dan m, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:08 (sixteen years ago) link
Apparently the concept of Nalgene has not filtered down to the Sitting-On-Your-Ass-A-Lot community.
― kenan, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:08 (sixteen years ago) link
I think I know why the attys were laughing. We're going to hold a "focus group" (mock trial) and I'm going to play the part of the harasser.
― Jesse, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:08 (sixteen years ago) link
xpost But we are millions strong! Our voices will be heard!
jesse, does your humidifier work? how much do you want for it?
― sisut, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:09 (sixteen years ago) link
Apparently it has also not filtered down to British fancypants. xp re Nalgene
― Laurel, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:09 (sixteen years ago) link
and I'm going to play the part of the harasser
a stretch. This'll be like when Dennis Hopper played the nut in Apocalypse Now. :)
― kenan, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:09 (sixteen years ago) link
Au contraire, I own one.
― n/a, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:10 (sixteen years ago) link
my humidifier works. my parents bought it and used it once last winter, but discovered they hate humidity.
It was originally $80-something (?- tag still on it)and I got it for free so I dunno. I'll give you a friend price.
― Jesse, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:11 (sixteen years ago) link
yay! i would like to reserve it. my throat gets all dry and sore in the winters. and i'm supposed to be singing again, if i don't have polyps on my vocal chords. but that's a different conversation.
― sisut, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:14 (sixteen years ago) link
katie asked first, but that reminds me... i really need a humidifier this winter. I had prune fingers for four months last winter.
― kenan, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:14 (sixteen years ago) link
prune fingers? are you sure you don't need a DE-humidifier?
― Jesse, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:15 (sixteen years ago) link
Katie, I'll let you see it first. It's not your typical humidifier.
ACT-ually!! I have TWO humidifiers. So you can choose.
Price --- make me an offer? $20?
― Jesse, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:16 (sixteen years ago) link
very. Not puffy bathtub prune fingers, old-man paper-skin prune fingers. Kind of upsetting.
― kenan, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:22 (sixteen years ago) link
That's not prune fingers.
― Jesse, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:24 (sixteen years ago) link
prunes are not papery. dates, maybe. or onions.
― Jesse, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:25 (sixteen years ago) link
hello, i just got up. damn this not being able to sleep at night thing.
sarah, were they my CAT boots? if so, i LOVE them. the sole is starting to come away from the leather after 2 winters, so i may try to get them fixed if possible because they are so comfy and i think they're cute. of course, i've never seen them in stores again and it took a lot of work to track that one pair down.
also, my chococat nalgene is so not hiking gear.
― colette, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:27 (sixteen years ago) link
hee hee chococat
― KitCat, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:28 (sixteen years ago) link
xpost eat me, they're wrinkly, ok? My fingertips wrinkle up because my skin doesn't hold water like it should. It's no fun.

should i buy this bike? $85 - asking
― Jesse, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:31 (sixteen years ago) link
Vintage lightweight unisex frame. New tires on rear. Fast, comfortable commuter bike. Great shape.
xpost can't tell from a photo
― kenan, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:31 (sixteen years ago) link
"Great shape."
Could mean anything.
― kenan, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:32 (sixteen years ago) link
also, "unisex" my ass. That bike is way gayer than you are, jesse.
I don't care if it's a woman's bike. I don't care if it has Chococat on it!
― Jesse, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:33 (sixteen years ago) link
Sarah, I think the boots are sensible and handsome. A v solid investment -- are they pricey?
― Laurel, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:34 (sixteen years ago) link
yes, those are the cat boots, and i've been really happy with them. (it's like caterpillar construction stuff)
FUCK. we're going to new york this weekend. staying with one set of friends two nights and in a hotel the other. hotels in new york are stupid expensive so we'd thought about a private room in a youth hostel. but then at 1am i found a cute little hotel, with private bathrooms for only like $20 more than the hostels. sent an email to toby who was asleep, rather than booking it straight away and now it's all booked up. fuck.
― colette, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:35 (sixteen years ago) link
"unisex" my ass
― Eazy, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:35 (sixteen years ago) link
Jesse you could do so much better than that.
― dan m, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:36 (sixteen years ago) link
Actually, Jesse, that bike is a mixte frame, so it's less girly than the "swan"-type women's frames, and will be a little stiffer/more stable, too. A decent choice if you must.
― Laurel, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:37 (sixteen years ago) link
Laurel - $150, which is what I paid for my last pair of tall boots. But I SUPPOSE that once I save for them, I should check out DSW first just in case.
― KitCat, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:39 (sixteen years ago) link
Oh, sorry, Sarah, I didn't see the top pair of boots...which predictably I don't like as much as the bottom ones! They're almost deffo more practical for, like, icy roads, but you trade off dressiness/formality/refinement, which doesn't work for me. I don't live in Chicago, though!
xp $150 is pretty not-bad! It's a lot of money, but not for tall leather boots.
― Laurel, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:41 (sixteen years ago) link
I just want a CHEAP bike soon, and this one seems pretty sturdy-looking. Maybe not. It's the best I saw in my price range, so thought I would look.
― Jesse, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:44 (sixteen years ago) link
I know, and I would be saving up for them. NO more credit card charges for me! (enter Jesse's 'no' song) I wasn't saying I was thinking about buying the top boots. Those were ones Colette posted on an old boots thread, and I was surprised at how similar the syles were. That's all.
Colette- this is not a good week for you! :-(
― KitCat, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:44 (sixteen years ago) link
Ah, I must have missed that boot detail. Ach well.
