I've updated the blurb on the ilXor Audioscrobbler group page.

I've included links to ILM/ILE and the search on there for handy use. They can be removed if this isn't cool, though.

Woo-hoo. Weekly track and artist charts now up and running for groups as well as individuals.

This week's highest new entry = 'Negotiate With Love'

Alba (Alba), Monday, 21 February 2005 21:42 (nineteen years ago) link

That is pretty sexy.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Monday, 21 February 2005 23:35 (nineteen years ago) link

They now work by showing the number of group members who've played each track/artist that week, which stops individual menkos skewing the charts too much, and works well for a group of the size of ILM. It's a bit rubbish for smaller groups though, and I think they're planning to bring back the old style charts as an alternative.

Annie still ruling the roost, but M.I.A. hot on her tail. Surprised more people not listening to the New Order album.

First serious challenge to her #1 spot:

At least we don't have the typical top 10:

RADIOHEAD
THE BEATLES
NIRVANA

This week's ILX top ten:

1. M.I.A. 31
2. Annie 29
3. New Order 27
3. Daft Punk 27
5. Vitalic 25
6. Coldplay 23
7. Kylie Minogue 22
8. Aphex Twin 20
9. Basement Jaxx 19
10. M83 18

Coldplay are top of the tracks list. What the fuck happened?

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Monday, 14 March 2005 02:42 (nineteen years ago) link

Coldplay probably tops it because of the thread devoted to the song "talk." It's probably mostly people just curious to see how Coldplay used "Computer World." I bet they'll disappear from next week's charts.

According to the home page(which is down now as well) AS will be offline for the weekend while they upgrade. Although recent tracks played have updated most peoples top artists etc havent updated in weeks(some have whos profile is small)
Queue submissions have been 3 days behind also.

So lets hope the downtime this weekend sorts it all out.

CFrom
OK, we spent 8 hours at the datacenter today, we completely disassembled the rack and rebuilt it, which was quite fun. Lucifer is now finally back up to 8GB of RAM again (after the manufacturer managed to send us the wrong type of RAM twice), and the current profiles database now has two more disks which might speed things up a bit.

We did install another new profiles machine, however we almost immediately discovered that it had a faulty RAM stick in it (doesn't that sound familiar...). We have hopefully removed the correct pair of modules, and it's currently undergoing burn-in tests. If this is successful, we will be able to migrate some of the profiles off to it to improve speed. This will happen within a week or two.

Edit: we haven't the faintest idea what this will do to performance - it'll make it faster, but how much faster is yet to be seen. The big performance jump happens when we start using the new profiles database, but this will be in a week or two's time, when we've determined it's stable enough to put data on.

So I assume top artists still wont update but recent tracks will as normal.
Anyone know what happened to the recommendations page?

i felt this was 'cheating' so my list of tracks is quite low numbers wise as it's 100% 'honest' (not to say i don't listen to stuff via random play but then skip if it's one i don't wanna listen to of course).
