Starcraft 2: Mothership Connection

i actually went to MLG with some friends, it was really, really fun. the Idra/Boxer series was awesome, but the series that Idra played right after against Bomber was even better, the crowd was soooo into it.

Listening to this Sportscenter-style analysis of Terran vs. Zerg in the pre-game is killing me.

yeah I just watched this whole thing, p surprised that I loved everything abt it really, but like at the end whenever the announcers would shout GEE GEE at the same time I would die a lil inside

Anyone else kinda more into watching than playing these days? Feel like I've reached a plateau and am just grinding out the same strata over and over ... And losing still really hurts.

Watching makes me want to play but then I do and it doesn't look like Boxer vs Idra, haha. I am trying to force myself to do things I'm not good at, losing more than normal, and hopefully better in the long run.

That idea v bomber was great too. Almost feel bad for Idra running the gauntlet of Boxer's early pressure and Bomber's macro-Terran style to just lose to what seemed to be pretty standard Protoss play from MC. I'm actually really excited to see the next MLG next month.

Anyone been to a barcraft event? Beer and SC competition and friends sounds pretty awesome.

Still have yet to beat the final mission, even tho I watched the cutscene just for the plot

i peaked at high diamond, getting matched against some masters players, and i got to the point where i realized i'd have to start putting serious time into playing more to get any better, but i wasn't really up for that kinda commitment. and it wasn't really fun for me when i wasn't improving, so i quit.

Played last weekend against Zerg. Opponent upgraded their overlords and came and dropped a zergling army on my main gg.

I read the campaign was kinda weak in this and I am so shitty at multiplayer its not really an option. think Ill just watch lets plays while Im bored at work..

I got a lot better at multiplayer after practicing a ton when SC2 came out. I might be in the top 99% of players.

i will win a multiplayer game at some point. i know it. i beat the training scenarios. steps.

are you bronze? just be hyper aggressive early and often and they'll get so flustered you'll win like 80% of the time.

worker rush imo

worker rush is a terrible idea

banshee rush focusing on their mineral line will beat a ton of people

joking about the worker rush... but it actually does work. just won't help you learn to actually play the game.

After reading a ton load of articles for the past month, and having a sick curiosity about this, I'm thinking that this weekend will be the one to try it out.

I only see a few tiny problems.

1) I'm not that into battlefield tactics games.

2) The last point & click game I really enjoyed was Syndicate on the Amiga.

3) I have two young kids and no free time whatsoever.

4) I've lost my mouse.

5) I don't play space marine games.

This can't be a bad idea can it?

I'm not big on playing as the zerg so this campaign is not quite my cup of tea. The cutscenes look really good, though!

So I've played this a fair bit over the weekend, kinda dig it.

its way more traditional than I thought it would be, but that i think must be the thing that keeps people hooked. I suppose when half of South Korea is lining up to f**k your golden cow, you dont change the cow...

The campaign seems to be just a massive tutorial to avoid you getting schooled in multiplayer, much like a fighting game.

the one thing I really like about it is that you can play for 20/30 mins and win/lose and be done, seeing as the only games I've played in the last year are Skyrim/Arkham city. The idea of a game that actually has a defined end appeals a lot.

There is a weird disconnect about how much it seems to be troubling my Macbook Air and how simple the graphics are, but I've literally not played a game on a Macintosh since the millenium, so who knows...

most places had it for £17 which is a price I'm cool with, but now it seems to have gone up everywhere to £26. So I'm on the fence...

Would the multiplayer be useful at all? or will everyone be on HOTS now with only me and some super l33t players still playing wings of Liberty?

HOTS is overpriced. I'll be sticking with WoL until it comes down.

Somehow I've found myself watching lots of competitive Starcraft again. I had assumed it was dead but it seems to be going strong. I don't understand some of the new units since I haven't played since Wings of Liberty.

He's really something. Zergs in general seem really strong. Few Terrans seem to get deep into tournaments right now.
