I guess ESPN just doesn't care that much about baseball. Here it is, the dog days of August, no football or basketball going on, this is supposed to be when baseball's media coverage is at its peak, right? So why the hell do I look at ESPN.com and the top story is that "college football practice has begun"? Seriously, who gives a FUCK about college football right now???

I hear you. Don't get me wrong, I love football, but I don't really give a crud until week 1 starts. Pre-season football is completely useless.

Talking head on 'the herd' today on ESPN was going off from the 'preseason game' with the Colts and Redskins, that the Colts were at best a 4-12 teaqm and the Redskins could get to the NFC championship game. Of course never mind the Colts LOST ALL FOUR of their pre-season games the year they won the Superbowl. Beyond that, I remember reading an article in the Indy Star a couple seasons back on how since Manning has gotten good, the Colts pretty much never run any of their regular plays in the pre-season. Everything is completely generic when it comes to their routes and blocking schemes, that way they cannot use preseason footage to game plan for early season games.

I always think this is about Bernard Fevre when it shows up in site new answers. carry on.

Since my baseball team was basically eliminated from contention in like May, I am pretty excited about Chargers season. Not so excited about Golden Bears season, though.

According to the latest, Green Bay might trade him to Tampa Bay. Now that would be interesting. Tampa already has a veteran quarterback who's pretty good at running the offense. Add to that the fact that Farve, by all accounts, is not particularly easy to coach and you have a quite interesting scenario. In other words, how many weeks before Gruden strangles Farve by his raggedy neck beard. It's enough to almost make me a Tampa Bay fan.

It seems to be that the wherever Favre's head is right now will make him a poisonous addition to any team that takes him on. I hate the Bucs, so they're welcome to have him I guess (though I'd rather see him be a Jet).

God, I felt so bad for Mike McCarthy who had to do a presser about his endless meetings with Favre today. He was really doing the best he could and it's obvious all he wants is to go coach practice but is just totally getting fucked by this.

First thing, the Packers have really pwned Farve by sending him to the Jets. If he had gone to Tampa, there would be an outside chance of getting to the Superbowl, but there is no chance in the AFC East. Without Farve, the Football Outsiders project the Jets as winning 7.2 games. With Farve, they could improve to what, 9 or 10 games. It's maybe enough to get back into the playoffs, but getting to the Superbowl ...ain't happening. Still, he is an upgrade over Pennington.

Second thing, everyone's looking at this from a fan's perspective and not from a general manager's. Good GM's are always thinking five to ten years down the road. I'm not saying that Farve doesn't belong in the Hall of fame. He most certainly does. Nor I'm I denying he had a good year last year. He most certainly did, but at age 38-39 the chance that he will be as good as he was in 2007 as very slight.

Good GMs may be thinking 5-10 years down the road, but shitty GMs who are gonna get fired if their team has a bad season need themselves some gunslinger.
