ugh comparing jobs to kennedy makes me feel ill
Image-conscious highly polished presenters advancing certain approaches, trying not to be caught out by anything they wanted to keep secret and not always succeeding, being inspirations nonetheless, dying in sucky ways...

And playing Gregorian chants. Occasionally, the soft sound of weeping can be heard, but otherwise, silence.

yeah but i literally cried the last time i reread his inaugural address. i think the messages they presented are qualitatively very different, and the message of kennedy's life i think is a much higher thing to aspire to than YAY A MOUSE YAY A GUI YAY ITUNES YAY FARMVILLE ON IPAD

I mean, come on. Love the guy's products or no, but as a dude Jobs was a total inscrutable cipher. Sort of like Howard Hughes had his OCD manifested itself as Machiavellian ambition.

Apple Store Robbery Interrupted by Jobs Mourners

Best part is the police report that mentions the store's "owner passed earlier this afternoon."

According to a person familiar with the matter, Isaacson last interviewed Jobs four weeks ago, right before, and right after he stepped down from his post as the CEO of Apple.Jobs indicated at that time that he knew he was going to die soon. The scene will appear at the end of the book.

I'm really interested to read that book because it look intrsting but also why because I wonder how much of the success was Jobs's personality vs right-place-time and context.
I mean, Jobs was exactly the same Jobs at NeXT, and made great products, but basically failed. If Apple hadn't also been failing harder and bought him to save themselves, he'd have gone under on that one.
Yet put the same guy back into Apple with basically the same vision and in under 15 years it was the world's biggest company.
He was obv a nightmare to work with, and only got away with it finally by being the boss *and* successful. I wonder what that type of guy would have been if he hadn't grown up when and where he did, perfectly positioned for the microcomputer boom.
