I love how the close-ups and the cropped frames attempt to obscure the fact that the sets are minimal and stagey.

It's like those trailers for subtitled movies that totally try to obscure the fact that they are IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE by having wall-to-wall voiceover.

Why is Nicole Kidman doing a Meg Ryan impression?

Dogville is a masterpiece. For most of the 3 hours I thought "Uh-oh, more of Lars being Lars -- a rehash of themes and ideas from his other films." But then -- POW -- an ending that blew me away.

I am DYING to talk with more people about this. Seems that there are quite a few people who don't quite "get" the ending.

I do hope that the complete version is going to be released here. The cut version (seen by a friend of mine in Italy) seriously destroys the impact the full version has.

Nicole is NOT doing Meg. However, that's a bit funny because now that Nicole has backed out of doing the other two parts of the trilogy, Meg Ryan has been slated.

That really sucks. Nicole brought Grace to life. Meg is about 10% the actress Nicole is.

But then again, the way Lars treats his actors, it's a wonder anybody wants to work with him more than once. (A must see is the Dogville Confessions film, where all the stars go into a confession booth to talk about their experience with Lars.)

The Dreamers

Interesting. I liked Michael Pitt in Hedwig and Bully: he projects a vulnerability that seems appropriate for this film.

D'oh, I need to see both of those!

The Dreamers is being released NC-17. Congrats to Fox Searchlight.

What are the odds of this living up to the trailer?

totally amazing.

Wow, I actually liked that Dawn of the Dead trailer -- lots of creepy silences. And it looks fairly realistic, in a what-might-actually-happen-if-zombies-existed way.

Sunshine looks awful, more so for having Jim Carrey in it. Also troubling is this ELO push thats happening now - first VW uses Mr. Blue Sky for an ad, now this movie uses it. Can't be good.

twelve years pass...

I realize this thread was started to discuss trailers for upcoming films, but rather than start a new one, how about using it to link to *any* noteworthy trailers that we find on YouTube and want to discuss?

For example, I came across this trailer (for a movie I've never seen) and am genuinely puzzled as to WFT this movie is supposed to be about:
