typical AAD humor aside, the book you are recalling is the apocalypse of thomas, shorter edition (the unabridged version is so heavily caked with batter you can scarcely read the *foreign* words). the distinctive feature of the A of T is, of course, the absurdly sharp paper stock on which it is printed. paper cuts are one thing, but mass vivosection (it was a standard reader for all my third forms) is another (very messy, very noisy) matter. best to wait until it has just sloughed, then read it quickly before a new shell starts to form. it also may be sauteed with garlic and butter at this stage. and by the way, it is not "pegasus," but "perasus" (a painful, hair-filled cyst that forms at the base of the spine). printer's conventions at the time rendered lower-case "r" in the form of the modern miniscule "g" in many OHG texts. aromatic inks were also quite common, at least more so than today. good copies are always sought -- best prices paid! i love you.
