If you're talking about the version on Transient, yes.

I LOVE THAT SHIT!

Totally freaks all the stereo geeks out bigtime, including me the first time I put that CD on. It really sounds like a stereo frying. Genius.

Yeah, the proletariat can't help but make a few mistakes when recording their records, while glitch-free recording artists are merely pawns of the capitalist scourge.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 23 June 2005 18:45 (eighteen years ago) link

In our Christian society
There's something wrong with having pleasure
Pleasure more precisely is called sin
Therefore our well thinking citizens
Have decided it was best to hide, deny pleasures (such as sex, drugs)
Out of the repression of pleasure
Something logically same into the light
Somthing much graver than sex, drugs :
Perversion could only entail regression
Of a civilisation that would avoid mastering anxiety,
That would corrupt the truth,
Corrupt behaviour

if there's been a way to build it
there'll be a way to destroy glitch it

mookieproof (mookieproof), Thursday, 23 June 2005 18:46 (eighteen years ago) link

"mastering anxiety" = recording albums without glitches. Lose the anxiety and recording becomes more accessible to the working folk

recording anxiety, mixing anxiety, mastering anxiety, they're all just different wings of the same capitalist-controlled music industry

ALL MUSICIANS ARE EQUAL
BUT SOME MUSICIANS HAVE COOLER ANTIQUE GEAR THAN OTHERS

Lest you people forget, however, this album occurred after the death of rock and is therefore unimportant.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Thursday, 23 June 2005 20:00 (eighteen years ago) link

melody and rhythm are of equal measure in this recording, and therefore beneath consideration.

Transient Random... is one of my favorite albums but I never can remember the song titles. When I saw the thread title I thought "oooh, Golden Ball. New Stereolab album? Cool title."

One of my best used purchases as well. But not as good as Aluminum Tunes for 8 bucks ;)

V. much a fantastic album, oh yus. As I say.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 23 June 2005 23:18 (eighteen years ago) link

hey ned, does anyone ever refer to you as 'old painty canny ned'?

chris andrews (fraew), Thursday, 23 June 2005 23:32 (eighteen years ago) link

Why, no. Should they?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 23 June 2005 23:38 (eighteen years ago) link

should have been higher than #85 old painty canny ned, etc etc

mookieproof (mookieproof), Thursday, 23 June 2005 23:48 (eighteen years ago) link

thirteen years pass...

I love that the glitch is still there in the reissue.
