Wild Pitch Records, baby. The Dust Brothers started out making beats for both Tone Loc and Young MC. It was "West Coast" but not 'gangsta', and it sure made an imprint on pop radio programming. So, what's wrong with it? It's not very good. I still like "I'm on fire", though.

one of the cooler album cover swipes. great voice, solid production, a couple of hits. what's not to love?

I mean seriously, what a weird/great album for a rapper to cop as a visual reference:

three years pass...

Busted this out last night after many years--on cassette, no less--and it's still a solid ride. "Cheeba Cheeba" was one of the first contemporary songs my white teen suburban Just Say No generation ass ever heard that openly advocated the recreational smoke.

the latest news i can find for him is that he's been on some 'i love the 90s' tour - good!

and also that he called out some kid in an airport for wearing a confederate flag hat, lol - https://www.tmz.com/2019/03/29/rapper-tone-loc-confrontation-confederate-flag-texas-airport/

I always thought the penultimate track on that album, menacing Dust Brothers instrumental “Loc’in on the Shaw,” was ripe for rediscovery in some GTA-type video game.
