When he says "goodbye Thunder Island" toward the end of the song I get this wistful feeling. I just heard it on our Muzak at work and it worked on me, the way oft-played pop music does...like aural furniture...

Ferguson, hands down. I find it hard to give Holmes a pass even in light of "Timothy."

Rupert Holmes if for nothing the clip of him singing "The Pina COlada Song" on Solid Gold is one of the best pieces of unintentional humor ever created. It looks like a sketch off of 70s Saturday Night Live, something with Michael O'Donoghue.

In "Escape", why does the narrator take out an advert to respond to the original advert, rather than contact the PO box advert presumably printed at the bottom of said original advert?

Listening to "Thunder Island" for the first time now and it is SO FUCKIN AWESOME! How did the Stones get away with such a blatant rip for "Start Me Up" though?

Oh, but "Escape" is really ropey - the chorus is good but the twist ending is funny exactly once and there are some CLUNKY lyrics along the way, forcing rhymes where it should have been possible to come up with something or other. OOf.

Ha! I knew there'd be a thread for this. Here's me "singing" Pina Colada at my 30th wedding anniversary. Enjoy?
