"Get Down" is one of the 20 worst songs ever recorded.

But Gilbert's apparently really popular in anime circles ("Maison Ikkoku" and such).

I'm interested. "Alone Again Naturally" is really maudlin, though.

Marcello agrees with you Geir.

i only know "alone again (naturally)," which is classic of course. what little else i know about mr. o'sullivan, though -- his silly po' waif-schtick from his early days (precursor to mack hucknall OF ALL PEOPLE!?!?) and suing the pants offa poor Biz Markie, though = BIB FUCKING DUD.

"Nothing Rhymed" is a bit of a tune.

"Nothing Rhymed" and "Alone Again (Naturally)" are generally seen as his two best tunes, and I that is natural and obvious. Both are absolutely awesome while I have to admit the rest of his output is slightly more hit'n'miss.

"Get Down" is actually about Mr O'Sullivan's pet dog.

imagine "Clair" is about pedophilia and "Get Down" is about S/M, and suddenly the tweeness is gone forever ;)

GH mentions paed and S/M and then smiles?

Shudder!

Quite.

Enjoy life and learn English with the sing-along-a-karaoke subtitled version of Gilbert O'Sullivan's "Alone Again (Naturally)"

I like to replace the line "and climbing to the top, will throw myself off" with "and climbing to the top, will toss myself right off"

JUSTICE picked his 'alone again, naturally' as one of their fave trax ever in a recent radio 1 show. never really heard it before but what an amazing tune!

"Alone Again" is good, but "Clair" is something else. And, yes, it's supposed to trick you into thinking about pedophilia right up until the end. And then it suddenly gets even creepier.

late-era (90's) track "Ooh Baby" must surely be a Balaeric classic in some circles...

Doing his first US shows in... 40 years?

Tonight my comedian friend went to see him in NYC and ran into a colleague: Gilbert Gottfried. True story.
