A friend and I are making a 14 hour drive next week and challenged each other to make 3 CD80s each. We're gonna alternate between each other's CDs. I tried to set mine up so that CD 1 is all road dog daytime driving music, CD 2 is darker & moodier for driving through the night, and CD 3 will sound big and open for dawn driving the next day.
CD 1 -- ROAD DOG HOWL"Genesis"--justice"North American Scum"--LCD Soundsystem"Mango Pickle Down"--MIA"Da Feelin"--Dizzee Rascal"High Lonesome"--The Gaslight Anthem"White Light/White Heat"--VU"We're Comin Out"--Replacements"Rise Above"--Black Flag"Your Little Hoodrat Friend"--Hold Steady"Lovecraft in Brooklyn"--Mtn Goats"I'm Looking For Someone to Find Me"--Richard Hawley"Mississippi Goddam"--Nina Simone"You Suffer"--Napalm Death"Tarpit"--Dinosaur Jr"Highlands"--Bob Dylan"Ramblin Man"--Mark Lanegan & Isobell Campbell
CD 2 THE RIDDLER IN A LIGHTUP SUIT"Firesuite"--Doves"Over the Ice"--The Field"The Captain"--The Knife"Teardrop"--Massive Attack"Sometimes"--MBV"Miles Davis & The Cool"--Gaslight Anthem"Love Sick"--Bob Dylan"Daylight"--Aesop Rock"Money Money"--Horace Andy"Ce Mortel Ennui"--Serge Gainsbourg"Dead Presidents ii"--Jay-Z"First Breath After Coma"--Explosions in the Sky"Blue Calx"--Aphex Twin
CD 3 BIG HORIZON TYPE OF SHIT"Farewell"--Boris"Plainsong"--The Cure"Just Like Honey"--JAMC"Summer Babe"--Pavement"I Will Possess Your Heart"--Death Cab"Watussi"--Harmonia"Conqueror"--Jesu"Gold in the Air of Summer"--Kings of Convenience"Divine Intervention"--Matthew Sweet"Disconnection Notice"--Sonic Youth"Til I Fell In Love With You"--Bob Dylan"Fortune Teller"--Robert Plant & Allison Krauss"How A Resurrection Really Feels"--The Hold Steady
I gotta admit I'm pretty fuckin happy with how these came together.

Thought it may be “fun” to try smaller-scale/hyperlocal takes on this thread’s original concept—in this case, starting at the ocean and heading east:Santa Monica - EverclearWest L.A. Fadeaway - Grateful DeadBeverly Hills - Circle JerksWest of Hollywood - Steely DanHollywood - Rufus & Chaka KhanLos Angeles - XEast L.A. - WarPomona - Hi Fi Killersetc....
