Having guessed this was an Alex in NYC thread, I was delighted by the sheer punk-rock-ness of the first sentence.

Man though Alex you gotta admit that pestering record store clerks about why they don't stock one's own records is really quite sad. The last person I heard tell of doing this was Genesis P-Orridge who was going into Tower Records in Chicago and explaining that since the TOPY was no longer in existence, no PTV records were officially in release, and they must stop selling same. Ugh.

oh, you're just pissed off that he beat you to it! ;-)

well yes I mean there are four of those PTV live albums that I don't have yet and Tower Chicago was my last chance

Fair point, JOhn, but consider the fact that Jaz actually posed for this picture.....

.....expressing not even the slightest hint of irony. Clearly he believes in what he's doing, and thinks his art should be available -- nay, force-fed! -- to the public.

Speaking of ex-members of The Cars: At this record store i used to go to in Connecticut one of the cars-can't remember which one,not Ric-apparently came in once and scooped up a huge pile of jazz cd's and when he went to the counter he told the guys there that if they wanted to give him this massive amount of merch for free he would gladly sign all of the cars stuff that they had in the store. They told him:um, no, that's okay. thanks anyway. so he didn't buy anything!! and nobody could stop laughing after he had left.

"What on earth are you implying?"

Shit, that's even worse than pestering clerks as to why none of your albums are stocked. Still, Ric married Paulina Porizkova, so he laughs last. Or not.

He probably laughs last, too.

Dear Jaz,

Please take a good look at this storefront:

http://graphics.gemm.com/graphics_db/hogwild.cameo.jpeg

This is a store in San Antonio called Hogwild Records. It's usually good at stocking anything one can't find anywhere else in the city, but to date I have yet to see a single Killing Joke anything in this store.

Please feel free to fly down here for a day of sun, sightseeing, and dropping by this store in a drunken mess threatening impending death should this store not start to carry anything Killing Joke. It is an embarrassment to this institution that a more radio-friendly local CD chain store has more Killing Joke in just one of its SMALLISH locations than in this entire store.

The store is on N. Main Ave., near the intersection of Main and San Pedro. If heading north-south on San Pedro, turn left before you get to the nearby community college; if heading south-north on same, turn right just after you get to the nearby community college. I trust you can figure out how to get there without further assistance.

Thank you. Will look forward to hearing about it in the local news.

D.
