Couldn't have said it better myself Dog Latin, I can't get enough of his stuff. It really is how I've always wanted dub to sound at times. He just hits all the right buttons for me in that no mans land between synth experiments, dub, bass and I dunno post-punk or something haha...

Received my copy of the Another Walk 12" by Chasing Voices today. Pretty brilliant stuff. One sided LP, and the track itself is on the short side, so some might feel a bit ripped off ($15!), but it's consistent with the package, which has no information on it anywhere, not even on the label or spine. You know, stark. Don't love it as much as Acidbathory, but that's a hard 12" to beat.

Also, this stuff played loud, through headphones = totally different experience. Jamming Regis' In A Syrian Tongue 12" right now through headphones at top volume. My god, those drums! That bass! Unreal.

yeah, i was going to mention that listening to this stuff very loud using headphones is...something else.

Pitch this guy's stuff down a bit, and he'll fit right in (well, with Andy Stott at least):

Glad it's getting a full vinyl release too and not just coming out as a 'sampler' in a generic sleeve like the Emptyset album.

Would I like Vex'd? Never really got into them.

not heard Xhin before and this album isn't out quite yet but it's kicking my ass at the moment and fits into this aesthetic pretty well

'You Against Yourself' especially, total Surgeon-esque brutality

I assumed that someone already bumped this thread because of this forhcoming cassette (out next week?) put out by The Tapeworm:

"Old Apparatus are a four-piece audio/visual collective transmitting from East London that have been releasing bass-oriented electronic dance music on Mala's underground label Deep Medi Musik. This edition for The Tapeworm is an improvised instrumental piece using guitar, piano, violin and found sound ambiences recorded entirely in the front room of the house they share together. Given that most forms of electronic music are bound by linearity and grid-based digital audio workstations, Old Apparatus consciously embarked on an exploration of non-linear forms of musical expression. The audio on the tape is a snapshot in time of that exploration.
Track Listing:
A1. 15:24-15:46
B-side left intentionally blank"

Not totally feeling this new Chasing Voices. "Acidbathory" set the bar pretty high, to be fair...

Anyone feeling the new Emptyset album, Medium? Was looking forward to it based on press release but it's not really making much of an impression on first listen. Maybe I need a better system. Sound like a Pan Sonic LP with half the tracks muted.

I still need to check that new Emptyset. Thanks for the reminder.

I should read this thread more... Been really digging Demiurge by Emptyset lately (I know, it's from last year, but...). Kind of the techno equivalent of Sunn O))) or something. I like the idea of subtractive noise taken to its logical conclusion - like they're chipping away at huge blocks of noise or something? Very cool. They've done something more recently, right?

Scary Move 4 (dog latin), Tuesday, 24 July 2012 15:24 (eleven years ago) link

yup, they had an ep that they recorded by playing live in an empty building (Medium). no strong opinion on it, but the reverb is cool.

it looks like they have another release that was a collection of early tracks that I haven't yet heard

You know, Kevin Drumm records really seem like an outlier in this thread title. I've been listening to his work a lot, lately, though. That Tannenbaum recording that was just released.

digging the clips of the 'Spit' LP by Ron Morelli, the L.I.E.S. dude, here http://www.phonicarecords.com/product/view/118239

sounds kinda 80s industrial (pre-rock version) but I'm OK w/ that

For a white artist to make a record and then claim it is the work of African musicians is to eradicate the work of black musicians.

Oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think there are a lot of problems with regressive (for lack of a better term) themes being used to create transgressive art when you're a cis white male, both in the inability for people with a casual interest to tell a difference, and also in that the artists seem to revert to form
