Is it because he's afraid of the rats?

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 18 October 2006 17:04 (seventeen years ago) link

He has gotten "too old for this shit."

Speaking of "too old for this shit," has anyone else seen the trailer for the new Rocky film? Hoo boy. I know Rocky's a dumb jock, but Stallone looks sedated the entire time.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 18 October 2006 17:09 (seventeen years ago) link

Just watched it on Apple.com. Oof.

I think the film could work if they had some fun with it, gave it a little ironic wink-wink, but it just looks so joyless.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 18 October 2006 17:19 (seventeen years ago) link

Not that I'd probably see it, anyway, but this looks like a big box-office bomb to me.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 18 October 2006 17:19 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, who is the audience for this?

People who liked the other Rocky movies?

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 18 October 2006 17:21 (seventeen years ago) link

I mean, yeah it's going to be bad, but I know at least a few dudes who will see it anyway.

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 18 October 2006 17:21 (seventeen years ago) link

Not me! In fact, let's talk about something else. Is Amanda feeling better today? Kenan, what are you doing on the apartment front, waiting to hear back?

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 18 October 2006 17:23 (seventeen years ago) link

Waiting to hear back. Grr. I need another cigarette.

Well, I'm off to the doc's. Covering for all the work I'm missing for these tests is going to be a cast-iron pain in the ass.

Good luck with your cornea, Dan.

"It is generally accepted that Algren wrote best about his beloved Chicago. His last Chicago residence was a walk-up apartment on the north side of west Evergreen Street, just east of Damen Avenue, in a neighborhood that was once one of Chicago's toughest and most crowded Polish slums, but is now a gentrified, popular nightlife district."

shit, i walk past there every damn day.
