i was surprised too!
i dunno, it's not a bad movie, but imo kubrick hadn't hit his stride yet. the book is way better and the film just seemed ~dated~ in a bad way
i watched "the killing" recently too and enjoyed it but its nothing special as far as kubrick or even your average noir goes
