I would love a pair of red trousers! I've been on the lookout for forever, but have not come across a pair that would work for me.

I threw away my 10+ years old winter coat last year (black wool peacoat, had replaced lining 2+ times, didn't cost much to begin with). I'd like an awesome camel coat and am willing to drop some cash on it if it would give me a decade of wear. Suggestions appreciated! Must be go0d for both casual and over-work-clothes wear (pantsuits, mostly) and look good on a tall laydee.

haha me too - i totally ignore everything camel coloured in fashion! charcoal all the way. white in my dreams, the ones where nothing ever spills and bikes don't need grease.

Camel may not be the most flattering of shades on me, but I am sick to death of black coats. Charcoal would be an option, but I am really trying to expand my coat horizons. A nice cherry red would be cool.

UKers: depending on the item, I'm a 6, 8, or 10 in US women's sizes. What UK size for a coat that supposedly runs true to size? UK 12???

Oh man Quincie that's hard. Which of those do you think you'd most likely wear in a coat? You'd maybe want to size up to accommodate sweaters?

In general US - UK is two sizes so

6 - 8 UK
8 - 10 UK
10 - 12 UK

Some websites say to size up 2 sizes but I've never felt that's the case. I'm a US 12 and a UK 14 pretty consistently.

I would maybe order a 10 but make sure it's something you can exchange if the size isn't right?

i got a great vintage pea coat last year. it is like 1/2" too small though which the fit a bit more "fashion" than i would like, and the shoulders end up being a little bit dramatic.

I've been wearing the same navy pea coat for a couple years and I'm not tired of it yet but wow I REALLY do want that APC coat in red, I tried it on and the fit is perfect.

Hmmmm I think I'm gonna go for the UK12. With a coat it seems better to err on the side of too big than too small!

haha daria imo the f/w apc stuff is some of their nicest in years just the palette and the details... they have an 'english mack' that i covet but i just got a new coat last winter

I know Laurel aren't they the most beautiful coats you've ever seen. I keep looking at them . . .

I mean all of the nice coats I've had over the years have probably originally been around those prices but I've never actually paid full price for them. I always wait until they're marked down. I doubt these will get marked down any time soon though.

I always wonder what to do with those plain-necked coats. They look bad on me without something in the neckline like a scarf, but then I always have to have a matching scarf on hand and sometimes it's too warm for that, and then things have become too complicated so I don't buy them anymore.

I envy them on other people, though.

Same! I love that coat but in addition to the neck thing I'd worry that it would be too shapeless. It could be one of things that looks amazing on though. I LOVE the color.

I'm the same way, too! I always go for big-ass collars.

I go for stand-up collars, turned up ones or Mao jacket ones, something with a vertical element.

My body is pretty shapeless, so it all works out well

i have this charcoal wool coat with horn toggles, v excited to break that out again this year

i am loving the hill-side f/w stuff, especially the large rose prints, can't really justify it the buy but will probably snap one up anyway

uniqlo have a maroon corduroy shirt in their f/w iirc

i have three plaid flannel shirts, two stussy and one ll bean. all three are red and black. my colors are navy and white. my brain doesn't understand why another part of my brain feels compelled to buy this shit over and over again, especially when the whole look is completely played by this point.
