dunno if i can recall any of example's work exactly

HERE'S AN EXAMPLE

Badmotorfinger Debate Club (MFB), Wednesday, 14 September 2011 20:11 (twelve years ago) link

i had to review the capital fm summertime ball a couple of months ago and for most of the duration of example's set i genuinely thought it was some between-song jape or competition winner, like some student or plumber had randomly wandered on stage and started to rap over a preset sample, and i couldn't figure out why everyone seemed to be going wild

i asked for "HALF" a glass of wine, because i am TEMPERENT (lex pretend), Wednesday, 14 September 2011 20:11 (twelve years ago) link

sad i did that sorry to my mother and father

Badmotorfinger Debate Club (MFB), Wednesday, 14 September 2011 20:11 (twelve years ago) link

i don't get why example and wretch 32 and professor green are such genuinely huge pop stars. like at least i get it with tinchy and chipmunk even if their music is whatevia these days.

loads of x-posts normally i would ridicule people's vaguely anti-corporation ideas except this whole we are ur friends innocent smoothie thing is actually a thing and is quite annoying. but yeah many criticisms of things are sort of mor and pointless...

granted if wretch 32 popped up repping some new boysenberry slurry of innocent's i might concede a line may have been crossed somewhere

The infernal satellite radio channel at work currently has four...FOUR!...of this dipshit's songs in heavy rotation. "Give Me Love" somehow < "You Need Me I Don't Need You"

having trouble understanding what's going on on that cover- radioactive Slumdon Bridge is falling down (due to radiation?) meaning that radioactive deer will fall into the Thames?

Arvo Pärt Chimp (Neil S), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 17:24 (eleven years ago) link

i've been hearing him a lot on the radio here too :\ ... not on top 40 (yet) though, just boring "adult pop" kinda stations

teledyldonix, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 19:16 (eleven years ago) link

The message is: reindeer are evil. Everything on Slumdon Bridge was lovely until the reindeer turned up, trailing radioactivity and earthquakes in its satanic wake

^^^ for some reason "The A-Team" gets a lot of burn at the all-night supermarket where I've started working, & it is the worst thing I've heard in a long time

(xposts) ... I'm assuming it's because softbatch southerners like the way he sings "it's too co-o-old outside" + namedrops angels (even in the context of their nonexistence) — also, weirdly enough, his pointless jangling rhymes are the closest thing to hip-hop on our store's weirdly sanitized version of top-40

oh god, just encountered this guy.

one of these dudes (sometimes fronting a band) shows up every few years. i trace a line from dave matthews to jason mraz (sp?) to this guy, with some other folks i'd rather forget filling out the lineage. there's something these guys do with the rhythm guitar, i can't explain it or ID it, but it is supposed to signify "funky" when the music hardly has any bottom and much less any rhythmic interplay that remotely resembles anything i know to be funk.

ugh.

I dunno. (amateurist), Sunday, 22 June 2014 04:54 (nine years ago) link
