Pet Sounds was regularly number 1 when the NME did this sort of thing in the mid 80s thru early 90s, i seriously doubt that its poll cachet has ever been as high since.

well, The Fat Of The Land may be The Prodigy's most successful album but in 1997 it was easily their worst (no one at the time knew they had an Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned in them)

It was mindlessly overrated at the time.
