ha yeah. At Your Funeral was a soundtrack to a self loathing, more emo time in my life. I did hear something a lot later from Under the Boards and hated it. TBF Stay what you are was pretty hit and miss too.

Eh, I think it's pretty consistent for the first 7 songs. Then you have "Nightingale", which is way over-syrupy but probably does the trick for the ladies in the audience. Then "All I'm Losing Is Me" is more of a return to form. I honestly can't remember the last two tracks and may have forgotten to download them at all (Audiogalaxy, RIP).

Just to get it out there, the most embarassing has to be "Rocks Tonic Juice Magic" off of Through Being Cool.

Let me take this awkward saw
And run it against your thighs
Cut some flesh away
I'll carry this piece of you with me

What's up ICP?

And if not I'll take my spoons
I'll dig out your blue eyes
I'll swallow them down to my colon
They're gonna burn like hell tonight

I can't even.

I'd buy you lemonade right now
if you were here
then I'd throw it in your face
And I'd listen to you cry

Oh my god... And this disappoints me so much because then you have the awesome, awesome, super-catchy emo coda of "you and are are like when fire and the ocean floor collide".

i have kept up with these guys. in reverie is a really really underrated record, i think, maybe my favorite pop-rock record, or at least what i'd consider the best for an arbitrary set of years. it's not emo at all.

sound the alarm and under the boards bring back the emo but ends up sounding like my chemical romance, mostly because conely's voice has twisted into an even higher, whinier register. people have a lower tolerance for this stuff, but there are strong pop hooks throughout.

the new one, daybreak, is all right but feels kind of half-finished, unfortunately. first time i've been really underwhelmed by this band.

love this record, which probably isn't a surprise to anyone

the shifting texture of chris conley's voice from record to record is kind of fascinating to me

four years pass...

Just started reading that emo oral history book (Where Are Your Boys Tonight?) and today I learned that the guy passed out on the futon on the back cover of Through Being Cool is PJ Ransone aka Ziggy Sobotka from The Wire.
