I'm not going to argue about kitsch overall, but I think Kuindera's essential point is that kitsch derives from an inability or desire to deal with reality in a healthy way. I worry that Zooey may be tempted by kitsch.

Watched the New Girl pilot OnDemand, I give it eight episodes til cancellation. If you look like Zooey, I can put up with a lot of quirky/MPDG-shit, but I wanted to turn it off after five minutes.
