Just wanted to Big Up a well done mix by Vaccine.

Vaccine's track to start off the mix is quite good.

And Tim, I take it back, I'm not sure if you'll like Shackleton's other stuff really, its got a kind of sterility to it.

Clean, precise, experimental definitely.

Some of its really, really good though.

it's definitely worth checking out the full version of Blood On My Hands, and its flip 'Hypno Angel'. Skull Disco 3 is probably my favourite dubstep record, alongside Qawwali and Toasty Boy's Splash (check this one track out, honestly. not into his other stuff but this is great). none of Shackleton's stuff is anywhere near as warm as 'Blood' but it's all good.

dubstep allstars 4 is surprisingly different from number 1 (i don't have the intermediary volumes). i'm kinda new to this music - what's witht he big stylistic change?

I'm starting to think that I might have been sleeping on dubstep too long, having hardly listened to any (except 'Midnight Request Line') in the last 4 years. Anyway, I'm completely addicted to the DJ Clever mix, esp 'Qawwali' - what else should I be listening to? I wasn't really into the Burial or Skream albums, but if there are any mixes/tracks/albums more like 'Qawwali' I need them...

there's a cd length shackleton mix on the skull disco website that i listened to on the way home last night. never knowingly heard him before but he's now been added to my mental list of names to look out for. thanks for that mr supasupadupadupafly.

I'd grabbed something from there a while back, but I don't think this was it! It's really, really good this btw. And despite my enthusiasm for a lot of tunes here & there I haven't found a lot of longer dubstep-ish mixes impressing me much at all on a home/headphone listen. This one is definitely the more Qawwali-like end of things, maybe even a bit more interesting to my ears so far.

she does it with EVERYTHING she plays though. I think one of my first ever ILM posts was back in 2000 when I was complaining about her creaming herself over a Boards of Canada exclusive she'd got her grubby little mitts on. "Wasn't that just MAGICAL! We'll have to get them in for a session!". Another time I heard her play something that she described as "A repetitive beat... BUT A WONDERFUL ONE AT THAT!". That's the difference between her and her hero John Peel - John never bothered telling you to like what he was playing, he just did.

On this mix MAH sounds like she's being handed little slips of paper written by the staff at Q magazine. I keep expecting her to interrupt a mix with "Wonderful - The Guardian *****".

I hate her voice. I have a friend who says she's his dream woman. I don't see it. Bit too enthusiastic for me, and I dislike the breezeblock because it's usually pretty boring peppered with some decent tracks.

so, do people dance to dubstep? how does one dance to dubstep? i was listening to some skull disco stuff in the car today and picturing people doing the dances from the "beat it" video, like slow-motion knife-fighting and moonwalking on rollerskates. is this right? or is it just music to go out to a club and smoke pot to and drink beer in the corner of the room?

my friends and i invented a rad dance which we called "the crippled egyptian". it was like a slowed-down version of walking the egyptian, with a lot of bobbing. actually, david byrne does the crippled egyptian toward the end of "once in a lifetime". we did it to make fun of the dancing at dancehall clubs but i bet it would go over great at a dubstep show.
