Both from Touch Arcade:
"Simply put, Wizardry is just a hardcore game. Check it out on iOS, and you will find it is almost exactly like the PS3 version, with two small differences -- it's Game Center enabled, and the lovely detail of the art is more or less lost on the iPhone's tiny screen. I think the game would be much more enjoyable on the iPad if you chose to get it for a portable device, but if you had access to all options, PS3 would be the way to go. It's clear lots of attention and effort was put into the art, and it's a shame to see it all tiny and squished up on a little screen."
"Greed Corp is a turn-based strategy game that encourages players to engage in something one step shy of mutually assured destruction. You destroy the lands you harvest, and firing on your enemies crumbles away the ground beneath them. You win as long as you have at least a single unit on a single hex and your enemies don't. This brutally aggressive game first made its debut on Xbox Live Arcade and the Playstation Network in the early months of 2010, but it's hardly aged in the time it's taken to arrive on iPad. It's also extremely well done for the most part, offering a natural touch interface and both single and multiplayer content."

That said I played it every day for like a hundred days.
Temple Run is so goddamn great. hard to play in the sun though.
also KING CASHING OMG OMG OMG; it's like Slingo meets Puzzle Quest.

My high is 990,000, 2627 coins.
― Jeff, Tuesday, 15 November 2011 17:19 (twelve years ago) link
the only prob with temple run is it should show you how much you've run as a running tally. (no pun intended).
also, the fact that there are three score variables (distance, points and coins) seems... inelegant.
― the jazz zinger (s1ocki), Tuesday, 15 November 2011 17:20 (twelve years ago) link
my highest score on Temple Run is like 200k. last week I introduced a couple of buddies at work to it; yesterday one of them announced that they'd had a 660k run and had already unlocked all of the alternate costumes. damn kids and their vidya gaming prowess.

also I went on a bit of a spree last night; quick rundown on what I got:
- King Cashing: unfuckingbelievable. as mentioned above, it's basically Slingo + RPG character development. I can see myself sinking a LOT of time into this one. - Disc Drivin': aka Shuffleboard With Friends. love it to death so far although it's kind of irritating how it takes longer to send your moves than it does to actually make them. - King of Dragon Pass: apparently a combination of choose your own adventure stories and Civilization's political mechanics. I need to dive into this deeper (especially since it cost ten fkn bux COME ON) but what I've played so far is pretty cool. - Poker Pals: refuses to open :( apparently I need to update to iOS 5, but seeing as how I can't function without jailbreaking functionality (primarily SBSettings, BrowserChanger, and BiteSMS) I'll just have to pass for now. - WELDER: haven't really gotten a chance to try this out yet. Bejeweled + Boggle sounds like a pretty deadly combination, though. - Jetpack Joyride: the actual game mechanic of using the jetpack is kind of meh, but I loooooooove the micro-rewards structure (especially the last-chance roulette wheel).
― DWARF ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA (jamescobo), Tuesday, 15 November 2011 18:55 (twelve years ago) link
really curious to hear your thoughts on king of dragon pass; I've been very sorely temptedjetpack is great for two minute jags.

like I said I'm still very early on in the experience, but it's VERY text-heavy so far - almost like an interactive storybook w/ tons of affectable outcomes - but despite my unyielding antipathy for game stories it's pretty neat. the diplomacy parts are pretty cool, though - very Civ Lite, and since I've always had a soft spot for Civ's diplomatic stuff it's a big win IMO. of course I really probably need to play through it a couple of times since I would imagine that the big hook is seeing how things play out through multiple gameplay iterations; thankfully I ride the bus in Los Angeles so time is something I'm hardly short on.
sux that there's no iPad version, though. they're supposedly going to release one later this month; I *really* hope that it's a universal upgrade rather than a
