i like when khan first contacts kirk from ceti alpha V and the look on kirk's face when he realizes what is going on, and khan is like BURIED ALIIIIIVE BURIED ALIIIIIVE.
also that one sad scene near the end is so fucking sad, and also extremely notably QUIET.

my favorite scene is when khan thinks he's getting the genesis code but really they're sending the code to take down khan's shields... shatner plays it so well, with that mix of smart-ass pride and desperate humility

George: What were you saying to the Rosses over there, anyway?
Jerry: Oh, I don't know. I told them her death takes place in the shadow of new life. She's not really dead if we find a way to remember her.
George: What is that?
Jerry: Star Trek II.
George: (identifying it) Wrath of Khan!
Jerry: Right. Kramer and I saw it last night. Spock dies, they wrap him up in a towel, and they shoot him out the bowel of the ship in that big sunglasses case.
George: That was a hell of a thing when Spock died...
Jerry: Yeah...
[For a brief moment, the two become overwhelmed with emotion.]

i was thinking this morning about the episode where kirk fights the guy (trelane? i think that was it) who seems ridiculously menacing and all-powerful but in the end turns out to be a spoiled kid from some Q-like omnipotent race. the way kirk intimidates him in the last scene, before he's even learned the "secret" ("you've got a lot to learn about living...in fact, you've gotta lot to learn about EVERYTHING, haven't you?") is fucking awesome.
― J.D., Friday, 21 December 2007 02:21 (sixteen years ago) link
That'd be "The Squire of Gothos," featuring one William Campbell as Trelane, who also played a Klingon on "The Trouble With Tribbles."

Also had a great ending where he dissolves from sight as he is taken back by his alien parents while repeating "I would've won, I WOULD have," reminiscent of the same kind of ending to "Charlie X," with Charlie last words before fading being "I wanna stay...stay...stay."

highlights from season 1'the vortex' - plot in this one is w/e but i found the guest performance endearingly weird'progress' - seems like they had the kira episodes down from the start whereas some of the other characters aren't that interesting yet. also the throwaway scene where o'brien talks to jake and nog is funny'duet' - obv

finished season 3, i think season 2 had more good standalone episodes but the story arc stuff starts to take off here. s3 highlights:"defiant" - riker"past tense" pt 1&2 - as mentioned in my previous post"destiny" - best take so far on the federation science vs bajoran religion subtheme"visionary" - o'brien keeps seeing scenes of disaster from 5 hours in the future and has to prevent them, goofy time travel ep but i thought it was fun & well done"improbable cause"/"the die is cast" - main story arc, this is where shit really starts to get good

maybe this is one for i love comics but can ian or someone informed speak on those glossy bound photorealistic Star Trek: New Visions?
I was waiting for a record store to open and killed time browsing one of these, owner looked at me strange as I was laughing out loud at how boned out and '96 clip art the thing was. Maybe the creator or licensor was photoshopping himself into the story? It felt very demented with shades of old man lol tubmlr Henry Darger.
none of these are from Hollow Man but here:

been rewatching some voyager before bed this week
there are some pretty messed-up voyager episodes in the later seasons! one in particular has the crew discovering they aren't actually voyager, but a copy that happened after a biomimetic planet encountered the ship. they're happily on their way to the alpha quadrant when everyone's body and the ship itself start breaking down.

Classic episode was just on: Good Kirk/Evil Kirk. The combined scientific and medical knowledge of Spock and Bones insufficient to work out that the way you distinguish between the two is Evil Kirk wears more eyeliner. Warp factor scenery chewing from Shatner.
