Not just per capita - of total dead, Russia (most at 29 million), Poland, Germany, Yugoslavia, Romania, Hungary, France, Italy and Great Britain lost more lives than the US (413,000). I don't think it's rediculous to attribut the allied victory more to the Soviet union than to the USA. (that doesn't devalue any wasted life, of course).
