New Full-Length Album From Jello Biafra On April 2, 2013
Alternative Tentacles is proud to announce the April 2nd release date for Jello Biafra & the Guantanamo School Of Medicine’s highly-anticipated new album White People And The Damage Done.
White People And The Damage Done (Virus 450) is the band's second full length, picking up where last fall’s “Shock-u-py!” left off. This long-awaited anti-austerity blast-a-thon with the teeth, venom, and one-of-a-kind music of Jello Biafra covers in gruesome detail: corruption (“The Brown Lipstick Parade”), “Werewolves of Wall Street,” “Road Rage,” and corporate McMedia making pop stars out of small-time crooks to shield the big ones (“John Dillinger”) or tabloid pop stars to lobotomize everyone else (“Hollywood Goof Disease”). The title track shines a light on our never-ending foreign-policy disasters in ways Jello’s spoken word albums never did. “Crapture” is the perfect song to play for those lovely “End Times” believers, pointing out how much better the world will be when they leave and we’re “Left Behind”- with melodies on the scale Biafra hasn’t touched since “Moon Over Marin.”

After 30 plus years, Jello Biafra’s music and lyrics remain in a class of their own. This is his 1st concept album since “Frankenchrist.” Anyone interested in Dead Kennedys won’t be disappointed to hear how Jello has not changed with the times. Biafra has continuously spoken the truth and has never waivered from his principles. Jello Biafra is more relevant now than he has ever been!
Above all, this album rocks! No pop-punk here. Jello and crew take punk fire in a wide variety of directions few ever try, with wall-of-sound, in-your-face production from Marshall Lawless and Matt Kelley (lots of Jello projects, Hieroglyphics, The Coup, Digital Underground, Zen Guerrilla, Victims Family). Lineup retains the double-barreled guitar attack of Ralph Spight (Victims Family, Freak Accident) and Kimo Ball (Freak Accident, Griddle, Mol Triffid). They are joined this time by bassist Andrew Weiss (Rollins Band, Ween, Butthole Surfers, and more) and drummer Paul Della Pelle (Helios Creed, Nik Turner’s Space Ritual, and Philly HC legends Ruin).
Winston Smith’s cover image is hard to forget and hard to ignore- one of his best in years!
Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School Of Medicine will be touring through most of 2013 on at least 3 continents to promote this beast. The live shows are the real deal. If you like OFF! or Dead Ending, for crying out loud don’t miss this!
This is not just an Age of Austerity album. It is THE Age of Austerity album!

This album kinda sucks unfortunately. The band sounds really stiff, the guitar sound is mostly rubbish slick distortion. There are some good songs on it, I think the production lets it down the most. Lyrics are a bit trite in places too, it's all angry and going for all the targets you'd expect but the wit isn't there in a lot of it.
