Is the trailer for Femme Fatale misleading? Because it didn't look like any film that I wanted to be anywhere near.

You should see the French trailer, it's great (it's pretty much the whole movie sped up to fit into 2 minutes). I don't remember the other one.

I just watched Casualties Of War for the first time last night, and it might be my favorite DePalma film save for Dressed To Kill. He's lucky that M.J. Fox's awkwardness fit the character, cuz otherwise it would have sunk the film (it obliterates the one long speech he gives near the end, the scene is so lame it belongs in a different movie). Some of his most masterful direction and its NOT ABOUT MOVIES. The ending is a bit flat, but it's great in way that builds on his earlier successes while evolving beyond the camp elements of his '70s works. Sean Penn, John Leguizamo and John C. Reilly are great too.

I hated Scarface so much I stopped halfway through.

Femme Fatale was damn cool, though I don't find RRS very appealing.

Mission Impossible was mostly disposable, save for the hanging-from-the-ceiling bit.

kudos for original list maker mentioning Carlito's Way and NOT Scarface.

granted, I like the latter. when I'm angry it's a movie that gets my jices flowing, but all things considered it's very one-dimensional. No reason for it to be three hours long outside of the fact that De Palma probably figured American audiences assumed longer=avant garde.

His rise to power was nothing more than a montage and his fall from grace comes out of nowhere and very abruptly.

Really if you approach the movie for what it is, eye candy with catchy one liners, it's a good time. But there's nothing to worship about it.

Carlito's Way was much better.

Well, you know what my D choices are. Everything else can go in C.

I think I've seen them both (once each, a while ago), but I'll be there for sure.
