haha, I'm getting a little bit of an earthbound vibe from that:

totally - the solo work has spilled over into the main project, and def for the better. the dice just seem more open, looser, etc while still seeming a bit inhuman, too. it's hard to explain, i've only listened twice so far.

i think Earthbound and balearic are off the mark, but feel it's kin to MPP, but in their own inscrutable way. if anything, Repo sorta makes Dice come full circle and i find it to be really punk. it's also bursting at the seams, messy as fuck, and i'm just glad that they've sorta reinvigorated themselves with this one. it also coheres with their visual aesthetic (not that Load Blown didn't).
seeing as how it comes with a 20 page book of art, the physical (rather than the leak) will be sweet meat indeed.

Well you're definitely right about it being more rough and ready (I'm basing all of this on Glazin btw) but its also looser, stretched at the seams, blissed out, but not in a boredoms psych-ey beaches and canyons but in a trashier VIBEZZ kinda way. Like something washed up at Ibiza maybe.

Is it just me or do parts of this sound like the more fucked up, sonically abstract elements of Ween? Like their early shit. Ween that is.

they're a noise group, lots of noise people don't know "basic music stuff" or whatever, I still think they should "get to make music" because noise rules

I suppose mic-smashing and affected bad attitudes and screeching post-hc noise was novel to nyc hipsters who'd somehow never heard the thousands of screamo bands all over the United States that preceded Black Dice. I will admit that repackaging Gravity Records chaos-core / power violence for the wealthy and fashionable was a stroke of genius, though

very true. it's one of the things that make it a kinda folk/populist genre and allows for diversity, as opposed to other "rock"-related genres that have certain educational requirements that serve as barriers to entry

that's the case with a lot of labels tbrr, but most of them don't actively rip off bands and then bully them online when they ask for their contractual share of sales

it's not just bands, some people have said he bought expensive records from them on eBay and then falsely claimed the records never arrived
