It's pretty dull, really. The newest single is alright.

Much better than anything involving Liam the past years. Noel is not the great songwriter he used to be in the mid 90s, but I like the way he has at least tried to pay attention to production values. The somewhat "smoother" sound fits him.

The Beady Eye album is better.

Not at all. The Beady Eye album is too rock'n'roll. And it has the pathetic loser Liam Gallagher on it.

Yeah, I was into Oasis a lot longer than I should've bothered, in retrospect, but even I can't be bothered to give a shit at this point. Bought the Beady Eye album, but only because I found a promo copy for like 2 bucks.

I bought the 12" of 'Live Forever' and that's it. I care about Noel and Liam arguing about which of their albums is better about as much as I care about two tramps arguing over whether Tennants is better than Special Brew.

anyway this was supposed to be about the comedy value of the newspaper making out that them not getting review tickets for a concert is (a) a 'news story' and (b) something Noel Gallagher had any input in or awareness of

I'm glad I had my turn-of-the-century Oasis fan experiences but I wish people would stop calling the Gallaghers brilliant/funny/intelligent interviewees.

I'm liking some of this new HFB album, which I haven't able to say about anything NG-related since Morning Glory. "Black & White Sunshine" is a highlight and has that lovely Kevin Shieldsy guitar bit in the chorus. "If Love is the Law" is a decent attempt to be Fleet Foxes. After further listening, I might be led to go so far as to say the album is good, but I'll remain tentative for now.

not a huge oasis fan myself, but did you not like any of these:

"D'You Know What I Mean?"
"Stand by Me"
"Go Let It Out"
"Fuckin' in the Bushes"
"Stop Crying Your Heart Out"
"Little by Little"

"Little by Little" is atrocious. "D'You Know What I Mean" and "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" are merely bad. "Go Let it Out" is passable. "Stand by Me" is almost good. FITB I don't remember. I don't actively like any of them. Apart from the plodding chorus, "All Around the World" off BHN is one of NG's better chord sequences/melodies, but that was also an old song by the time it was released.

"Stop Crying Your Heart Out" always sounded to me like someone saying "look, here's a tenner, now pissoff"

'Stand By Me' and 'Fuckin' in the Bushes' are both great, IMO.

Anyway, I've given the new High Flying Birds album a listen but the mastering is so hot it's borderline unlistenable - shame, sounds like the most "adventurous" thing he's done in ages.
