I rank Se A Vida E behind the first three songs on Bilingual but it's a solid track. Funny how closely the first few tracks on Bilingual mirror Nightlife, with #4 being a total dud.

IIRC ppl have been all about "Se A Vida E" since it came out (that was why I originally sought it out, which lead me to that Deep Dish remix)

"Home and Dry" was one of only 3 21st century choices for me. One-phrase-repeated choruses always have the potential to annoy but this keeps on giving. Hadn't seen this video until this week though. Fabulousness.

Se A Vida É is a lovely song and so much better than Before which is a contender for my least favourite single of theirs.

I really don't understand the appeal of Home & Dry, it's the first song in the list I'm pretty disappointed to see place.

"New York City Boy" got a fair amount of airplay here -- without checking I think it's their biggest American crossover hit since the early nineties -- but I know a lot of rong people who think it's rather tacky.

That would be me. I find it a bit PSB-by-numbers and much less moving than Go West.

I don't understand that at all. There really isn't anything about "Go West" that doesn't make me roll my eyes to the point of sprain.

As someone in a (superficially) similar life situation as the video's main character when the track came out, I don't have a problem with the tacky obvious parts of New York City Boy. But it sure isn't the most subtle thing in the world. With Go West, the listener does get to fill in the blanks a little.

I've never liked Bilingual, but look forward to pulling out Nightlife and Fundamental again.

Interesting fact: PSB one of the few bands my wife and I love equally, can listen to every day, any time. It's true!

I have never gotten "mournful" off of their version of "Go West", including the listen I just gave it to see if I'd changed my mind (I hadn't).

It was a really significant cultural moment here and I can't quite remember why.

I can buy that. But not everything he sings is steeped in melancholy. Compare this song to something like Se a Vida, for example.

Unrelated. They thought of it in the context of AIDS, but then they thought it could also apply to the demise of the communism, which was happening at the time. They went with that idea for the video.
