Bok Bok
Julio Bashmore

that l-vis album is really superb btw, and i say that as someone who never quite felt his productions before.

Good to hear, as i can't say i've been a fan of his work up to now either

This is the lead single - love how gloriously relaxed it is.

^my favourite too

girl unit dropped 'wut' at fade to mind last friday and it sounded...weird? like i might not even have recognized it if it weren't for the synth melody. might have been the soundsystem.

queen latifah approximately (donna rouge), Tuesday, 4 October 2011 17:10 (six years ago) Permalink

might have been the Claude VonStroke remix?

Number None, Tuesday, 4 October 2011 17:12 (six years ago) Permalink

possibly, i haven't heard it

:( terrible artwork

bass, Monday, 16 April 2012 08:32 (five years ago) Permalink

not sure i've seen an NS release that hasn't had terrible art?

hologram ned raggett (The Reverend), Monday, 16 April 2012 08:46 (five years ago) Permalink

The artwork is the best thing about the label and I think has a significant impact on perception of the artists. I've lost count of the number of articles I've read about NS that start talking about colour even when the music is quite murky.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Monday, 16 April 2012 09:12 (five years ago) Permalink

holy fuck

hologram ned raggett (The Reverend), Tuesday, 24 April 2012 17:30 (five years ago) Permalink

Nice one. I was enjoying this L-Vis 1990 BBC mix on my headphones this weekend while I was doing yard work. It's a little bit more in the Techno zone but includes that new Girl Unit track.

Moodles, Tuesday, 24 April 2012 17:40 (five years ago) Permalink

"ensemble (club mix)" is holy-fuck astounding as well, "rezday" also very good

still trying to get into the jam city album tbh

liberté, égalité, beyoncé (lex pretend), Saturday, 28 April 2012 08:18 (five years ago) Permalink

oh i haven't even heard it yet i just like the track titles and i've really been enjoying waterworks and magic drops and the unreleased stuff too (maybe not as much as bok bok but still quite a lot)

did you get a promo? is it as wack as l-vis 1990's album?

the late great, Saturday, 28 April 2012 19:41 (five years ago) Permalink

I haven't heard the album yet but "Ecstasy Refix" and "Magic Drops" and "Arpjam" are my favorite Jam City

is that article implying that he's from NY?

the late great, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 19:10 (five years ago) Permalink

seems solidly UK to me? nice interview, BW!

rob, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 23:19 (five years ago) Permalink

i thought solidly london but he said something about ny in the early 00s like he'd been there

nice interview Brainwasher!

me and lex interviewed him ... jeez what, a year and a half now ago? o_O .. i think we asked a similar question about whether he wanted to write anything for a vocalist. it seems like such a natural progression.

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 22:19 (five years ago) Permalink

hey lex tell us about the jam city album

is that a ltj bukem sample on "nite life"?

the late great, Wednesday, 9 May 2012 22:22 (five years ago) Permalink

i'm kind of not sure what i think of it!

i do like the bonus track with main attrakionz a lot

liberté, égalité, beyoncé (lex pretend), Thursday, 10 May 2012 06:55 (five years ago) Permalink

ugh that track is terrible

The Reverend, Thursday, 10 May 2012 06:59 (five years ago) Permalink

really as bad an idea as it sounded on paper

The Reverend, Thursday, 10 May 2012 07:00 (five years ago) Permalink

nah rev it's wonderful

the late great, Thursday, 10 May 2012 07:10 (five years ago) Permalink

I really like both Main Attrakionz and Jam City but wasn't feeling that track at all unfortunatly. Looking forward to the album mind. Feels like its been in the works forever, I sware one of the Night Slugs guys said it was ready to go in 2010. They must have done a do over or something.

jimitheexploder, Thursday, 10 May 2012 07:53 (five years ago) Permalink

If nothing else a Jam City / Main Atrakiionz collabo is a good candidate for any 2012 time capsule.

Tim F, Thursday, 10 May 2012 07:58 (five years ago) Permalink

tbh the new girl unit ep has kinda overshadowed the jam city album in terms of my attention - "ensemble" and "club rez" really are stunning, and i love that there's no attempt to even go near trying to recreate "wut" - is anyone else using the EP format so well right now?

liberté, égalité, beyoncé (lex pretend), Thursday, 10 May 2012 08:09 (five years ago) Permalink

how do you mean?

and where is FINAL JOOST?!?

the late great, Thursday, 10 May 2012 14:37 (five years ago) Permalink

man, that isley bros sample (replayed?) at the end of "double take". i don't think it's possible to sample "summer breeze" and fuck it up.

The Reverend, Friday, 11 May 2012 04:27 (five years ago) Permalink

and "club rez" just totally rulez

The Reverend, Friday, 11 May 2012 04:28 (five years ago) Permalink

i didn't know what thread to use for this. it's not on night slugs or anything but hearing it for the first time was overwhelming in a similar way to the first time i heard "wut". just that incredible melody pealing out

there's another track on the ep called "fat city" which might be even better

liberté, égalité, beyoncé (lex pretend), Monday, 14 May 2012 21:02 (five years ago) Permalink

i got double-clubrezzed at the clurrrrb the other night (including as the last song of the night). so epic.
