xp Sacred Bones does that on most of their releases.

Alpaca Lips (Johnny Fever), Wednesday, 29 June 2011 23:23 (twelve years ago) link

yet to see a sacred bones sleeve i don't love xpost

edit piaf (electricsound), Wednesday, 29 June 2011 23:23 (twelve years ago) link

really like the zola jesus, suspect it will be vinyl-only and thus I'll never get to own it >sigh<

last zola jesus and most sacred bones things are on cd, why is this different?

I feel like I'm about 85 when I say this but AGGGH I am so over bands/songs named after famous people. STOP IT NOW.

And no more dollar signs.

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 1 July 2011 01:46 (twelve years ago) link

It's cool. He's been Curren$y for 10+ years now, way pre-Ke$ha. Dollar signs hadn't jumped the shark yet back then.

these goons were made for waka (The Reverend), Friday, 1 July 2011 02:12 (twelve years ago) link

Then he gets a pass. But all that Mickey Mickey Rourke garbage, et al can fall off a cliff.

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 1 July 2011 02:35 (twelve years ago) link

don't like the weekend at burnie's cover at all, but muscle car chronicles is EXCELLENT

And the piano, it sounds like a carnivore (contenderizer), Friday, 1 July 2011 05:15 (twelve years ago) link

also, don't really want to like the DJ phono cover, but it creeps up, would like to see it propped up against my stereo table

And the piano, it sounds like a carnivore (contenderizer), Friday, 1 July 2011 05:16 (twelve years ago) link

muscle car chronicles is EXCELLENT

Cosign! Its Foetusishness is if anything strengthened by the Winner's Circle one, in a way I can't quite explain.

Mock-Arabic fonts/writing really bugs me (as does mock-Cyrillic, etc), so dnwts the Shabazz, nor Black Lips who are also doing this.

So apparently this is the deluxe edition cover?

Wardrobe on og version is cooler, but overall feel on this is much better.

When I saw a small pic of this album cover online, I thought it was awful (looks like her face is covered with alien jizz or something), but when I got the album and looked at it closer, I kinda started liking it... As far as I can tell it's not a Photoshop effect, but a forest(?) picture superimposed on her head.

Tuomas, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 10:38 (twelve years ago) link

Too bad the actual album cover adds her name to the pic, thus making it a bit less cool:

http://www.israbox.com/uploads/posts/2011-06/1306957071_cover.jpg

Basically I don't think album covers should have any text at all, unless the text is in some way integrated to the picture, or if the cover has nothing but text. There are many cased where a cool image is tainted by the name of the band and the album.

Tuomas, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 10:41 (twelve years ago) link

I like that typeface, though. Very 40s/50s.

Alpaca Lips (Johnny Fever), Wednesday, 6 July 2011 10:44 (twelve years ago) link

I dunno, it just looks too stark compared to the organic feel of the pic.

Tuomas, Wednesday, 6 July 2011 10:47 (twelve years ago) link

I might not have gone full black on that. Maybe a pale gray.

Alpaca Lips (Johnny Fever), Wednesday, 6 July 2011 10:51 (twelve years ago) link

Kinda Covers Connection-y, too, no?

anyone want to have a guess what obscenely-popular-for-now-at-least Tory folk band this cumlord is attempting to rub up against here

I thought it had never been issued until now?
I like that photo, hope we get it at the radio station.

Trip Maker, Thursday, 7 July 2011 20:02 (twelve years ago) link

well i guess it's agrey area, apparently Bobb had 500 pressed back in 1983 but threw them all away when he parted ways with the band.

mizzell, Thursday, 7 July 2011 20:04 (twelve years ago) link

bummer

Trip Maker, Thursday, 7 July 2011 20:07 (twelve years ago) link

love the mastodon cover! want scary wood cow with which to furnish my chalet.

trimble cover is cool, would look comfy sitting next to hobo's lullabye, therefore successful.

also we’re divorced now and i hate this movie. (contenderizer), Thursday, 7 July 2011 20:22 (twelve years ago) link

holy shit @ mastodon cover, can't decide if it's brilliant or appalling
