In tribute of this adorable french bulldog I saw via a GIS, I drew a gnarly picture of him:

EDB I like your drawings and your predilection for smushface dogs. lol.

Lastly that gif J Crunch posted is amazing.

Xpost: Thanks!

If there were ever a taxonomy of dog worth loving its the smushfaced (I cite the above video of gus as proof).

Also not to get all PETA weirdo and annoying but I really don't like that sky-diving pug pic. As I pug owner I can confidently say that they're generally not extremely adventurous dogs. Wait forget about the pug part - that seems like an awful thing to do to any dog to me. He must have been so scared. That owner is an asshole imo. Poor puggy. :[

I was sorta on the fence about that one. on the one hand, I've known dogs to do and seemingly enjoy crazy dangerous stuff (eg straightline down steep couloirs in the backcountry), and all dogs everywhere like the feeling of wind in their faces. otoh, those things are not the same as falling out of the sky.

still, I'd imagine that being strapped to their owner might provide their lil dog branes with a feeling of reassurance like "well i guess this is ok!"

not that this would at all appease the PETA ppl, but I think K9 units in the military parachute all the time with their dudes

Plus they get to wear goggles! Take THAT PETA!

my old dog used to get anxious about getting into the boat but that's because he was a pussy

then he got over it idk

after skydiving a boat is no biggie.

Is the K9 thing true?

IDK I still feel like it would be really really scary for them even strapped to the owner and even if they like the feeling of wind on their faces. They don't know what's going on! Maybe he is having a great time, idk. That wasn't my first thought though. My first thought was def that the poor little dude was prob gonna have a heart attack at the expense of that asshole wanting to get his picture circulating on the internet.

ladies love draculas like children love stray dogs (ENBB), Friday, 19 August 2011 14:46 (twelve years ago) link

All of the K9 dogs I've ever met were single-mindedly loyal to their masters and would do anything demanded of them espcially since they trust them. They're trained to take a bullet for their master and I imagine skydiving isn't any more stressful than a lot of other training stuff they have to do.

Cuius regio, eius radicchio (Michael White), Friday, 19 August 2011 14:51 (twelve years ago) link

Like I said, maybe the pug loves it. I just don't want him to be scared.

Oh man, I wanna hang out near a dugong and go swimming in that water only without, you know, the sharks.

ladies love draculas like children love stray dogs (ENBB), Friday, 19 August 2011 14:56 (twelve years ago) link

Yeah, skydiving seems like a bit much. There's other forms of excitement that provide big fun with little death-defyingness. Such as...

I'm pretty sure that's been posted on ILX before, but it bears repeating - if for no other reason than cautionary example.
