Hah i was wondering how long before someone puts a Magic Eye poster as their album cover.

Pictureplane has a brief but solid history of completely sucking, so I'm in no way suprised it's him.

johnny fever, where do you "go" for music? surprises me that you're even aware of pictureplane - he's basically the Head Boy at the local Denver DIY venue I go to near every weekend. And agreed, I sort of hate him - in music and real life.

reason for latter: he epitomizes the "condescending hipster stare", reserved a lot for me as i'm typically plain-clothes and admittedly am always conscious of looking "out of my environment" whenever i go to these places.

Stereogum went nutballs over Pictureplane a while back, so that's where I found out about him. Shortly after that, I stopped even visiting Stereogum.

they put out their first 12" within a week or two of the Tiger Woods Thanksgiving weekend scandal happening, and since most of their shit is unlicensed re-edits, they had to adopt a ~mysterious~ identity. i think the tiger woods thing was a dumb joke that just stuck after the success of the first release.

(they've done stuff as Cleo & Patra and Pop & Eye too.)

well, at least the cover's not as bad as the name.

Shabazz Palaces is niiice

matte black jacket feels all velvety soft, too, and the deep red inner sleeve looks amazing peeking out from within. great overall object design as well as nice imagery.

I have no idea whether you would like Shabazz Palaces but imo it is one of the best albums this year (along with DJ Quik & Beyonce).

yeah, i think you might like it, gr8080, but that's more based on the fact that i like it and it seems p broadly accessible than any clear sense of your tastes. psychedelic indie hip hop w deep, dark, leftfield production.
