How would the resident Spurs fans feel if he does stay?

Chris, Monday, 20 June 2011 23:56 (twelve years ago) link

delighted, tbh.

i always thought berbatov would have snapped out of it, and doubly so for modric

beta the drivel you know (darraghmac), Monday, 20 June 2011 23:58 (twelve years ago) link

Won't cause irreparable damage to the relationship? I think Gerrard was forgiven pretty quickly wasn't he after the Chelsea thing(s).

Chris, Tuesday, 21 June 2011 00:02 (twelve years ago) link

nah i can't see it, if he stays he'll get out there on the pitch and play and it'll blow over.

i'd have had sympathy with him, relatively anyway, before he opened his mouth on fri night.

beta the drivel you know (darraghmac), Tuesday, 21 June 2011 00:05 (twelve years ago) link

Football fans are fickle creatures. Utd fans forgave Rooney once he started playing a bit again.

Number None, Tuesday, 21 June 2011 00:15 (twelve years ago) link

i can see modric's case tho, i really couldnt see rooney's.

Lots of talk that Spurs have accepted a bid of £35m from United. Fingers crossed it's just gossip.

модный хипстер (ShariVari), Saturday, 25 June 2011 20:12 (twelve years ago) link

no way would we accept that

Chunks on strippers is the game of my frog (darraghmac), Saturday, 25 June 2011 20:13 (twelve years ago) link

Sorry, couldn't help myself. Took a few but none of them are very good - he kept MOVING!

Chris, Saturday, 25 June 2011 20:15 (twelve years ago) link

couldn't get one of him scoring no :)

Chunks on strippers is the game of my frog (darraghmac), Saturday, 25 June 2011 20:16 (twelve years ago) link

I had my head in my hands at that point I'm afraid.

Chris, Saturday, 25 June 2011 21:34 (twelve years ago) link

fair point

good article about the lovable tyke in goal.com- why is luka modric so highly rated when lampard scores more and fabregas has more assists, they conclude that it's because he's good at other stuff.

remarkable stuff

The Modric rumour seems to be stemming from "TransferUpdate" on Twitter, who seems a tad suspect to say the least

deems should be more worried about citeh sending adebayor in return, possibly after levy sniffs at a lower exchange offer from chelsea containting drogba, while muttering something about amortisation

Had an inkling this was possible when he scored two v Spurs in Madrid in April. You could do a lot worse.

Drogba news gone quiet lately, I suppose he's staying.

boxall, Wednesday, 20 July 2011 23:44 (twelve years ago) link

yeah looks like drogba stays, tho apparently moves were mad efor lukaku today so....

i rate adebayor's ability, but his attitude stinks

if we're loaning strikers then sturridge pls

who shivs a git (darraghmac), Wednesday, 20 July 2011 23:46 (twelve years ago) link

in fact, part swap for modric would be good business there

who shivs a git (darraghmac), Wednesday, 20 July 2011 23:47 (twelve years ago) link

and so it looks like going

who shivs a git (darraghmac), Sunday, 24 July 2011 17:20 (twelve years ago) link

So making him captain didn't work then? What's your source here, I thought Chelsea were more interested in Pastore now.

boxall, Sunday, 24 July 2011 17:26 (twelve years ago) link

source is pmac, by text, from tesco. dunno where he gets his info tbh

who shivs a git (darraghmac), Sunday, 24 July 2011 18:08 (twelve years ago) link

Gotta add that one to my RSS, thanks for the heads-up.

boxall, Sunday, 24 July 2011 18:18 (twelve years ago) link

he'll not be happy at being outed

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 24 July 2011 18:19 (twelve years ago) link

ya never set me wrong yet iirc

who shivs a git (darraghmac), Sunday, 24 July 2011 18:21 (twelve years ago) link

Saw a copy of the Daily Star on Sunday on the Tube earlier, the back page had Chelsea bidding £27mn for Modric with Sturridge going to Spurs as part of the deal iirc.

i

who shivs a git (darraghmac), Sunday, 24 July 2011 22:59 (twelve years ago) link

yeah, i would take that

who shivs a git (darraghmac), Sunday, 24 July 2011 23:00 (twelve years ago) link

Sturridge and 'arry at Spurs would be a lethally funny combo for ILF lols.

James Mitchell, Monday, 25 July 2011 07:52 (twelve years ago) link

daniel sturridge has had a right gone to spurs

CH3C(O)N(CH3)2 (darraghmac), Monday, 25 July 2011 10:33 (twelve years ago) link

Apparently he's been okay in pre-season, attitude-wise? Sort of hoping Chelsea just get bored and look elsewhere.

His comments on Ade in that piece are otm.

boxall, Thursday, 18 August 2011 05:48 (twelve years ago) link

What a thing to say in public about Modric though. How's Levy going to react when he sees that?!

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 18 August 2011 05:55 (twelve years ago) link

'arry has most likely convinced his 'airman that he's sufficiently adept at reverse psychology to keep Luka out of 'elsea's 'hands.

boxall, Thursday, 18 August 2011 05:58 (twelve years ago) link

typo there at the end, distracted from re-reading above. I'll be sad if he goes somewhere and is a reserve but great thread regardless.

boxall, Thursday, 18 August 2011 06:01 (twelve years ago) link

That looks like Redknapp and Levy are at loggerheads to me. Redknapp presumably frustrated at Levy's refusal to part without any cash without having first sold the deadwood he's put a prohibitive price tag on, when one player at a stroke could make £35m-£40m.

But at the same time we don't know who he's targeting, whether they'll come to Spurs, whether they'll actually improve the team (as opposed to replacing Kranjcars with Pienaars and making no net improvement whatsoever), and whether we'll end up with a hole in the squad and a load of unspent or wasted money at the end.

Personally I think he's trying to con Levy into getting his chequebook out. Doubt Harry likes spending an entire summer sitting around not being able to make signings.

Matt DC, Thursday, 18 August 2011 08:44 (twelve years ago) link

It's the sort of thing that could end 'redknapp out' to me - not only undermining the public line, but shifting blame for underperformance onto Levy. The only benefit (assuming as I do that you can't possibly be better off shorn of Modric) is in getting Modric onside personally if he needs it, but even that's got a huge backhanded insult in there.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 18 August 2011 08:57 (twelve years ago) link

said for a while now that 35m spent well leaves us a better team if modric goes.

That was on condition of keeping niko, tho

10/11 of a dead jesus (darraghmac), Thursday, 18 August 2011 09:49 (twelve years ago) link

There's also the possibility that Redknapp is trying to rush Chelsea into a bid they can then reject.

Matt DC, Thursday, 18 August 2011 09:50 (twelve years ago) link

Redknapp has not really spent particularly well over his time at Spurs actually. Dunno if successful moves for Samba, Benayoun and Kalou and a failed bid for Eden Hazard will make much net improvement really.

Matt DC, Thursday, 18 August 2011 09:53 (twelve years ago) link

that's true, though i'd want to see a list to judge tbh

10/11 of a dead jesus (darraghmac), Thursday, 18 August 2011 09:55 (twelve years ago) link

rejected £40m

Blimey I got something right for once.

pandemic, Wednesday, 31 August 2011 22:16 (twelve years ago) link

For as long as this guy can walk, he can have a spot in my midfield.

Up there with Berbatov and VdV as the most persistently joyous players to give the ball to in my footballing memory (Spurs edition) and it seems impossible that he's still somehow putting in performances like he did tonight
