both the ep and the album (ie his complete discog to date other than remixes here and there) are still realtively easy to pick up i think.

i forgot about this band (guy?). 7 minutes was the jam.

downbeat, spacious production, layered vocals, twang guitars, heavy bass (nearly destroyed my crappy car stereo speakers this morning)

"hey you guys," "bombs away, away," and "stop taking (so many)" are the high points for me. but i love the whole thing except for that final track which kind of rubs me the wrong way.

ha. my only other gripe with the record is that "ten to one" cribs the end vocal melody line from belle & sebastian's "sleep the clock around"

thankfully i've never heard b&s so i have no such association.

the album is really, really good isn't it? develops his sound in such perfect, subtle ways...and i think the last song might be my favourite thing he's done! apart from 7 Minutes of course.

ilm needs to give him more attention for real.

BTW : i'm not so sure if this is common knowledge, but there is an extra track available for the new album.
the track is called "dark matter(s)"
unfortunately, it's still only officially available from itunes (i think).
in the words of the man himself :
"it was originally track #8 after Stop Taking, but I took it off as I thought of all of them, it could easily exist on it's own... and that way it kept the record under an hour! "

I was in a local used bookstore with a small music section today and for some reason they had seven(!) sealed copies of Songs About Dancing and Drugs for real cheap. It was weird seeing so many of these mixed in with all your usual small used shop standards. Remembering FACT really liked it, I of course picked up a copy.
