Quite right, Nick. I was watching a gig by a very terrible band a few months ago, and they began their last song with a sort of familiar-sounding synth progression ... and then that bass line kicked in, and half the bar broke into broad grins. Despite nearly an hour of sucking horribly, everyone was on their side again.

Unfortunately and unsurprisingly, the cover wasn't that good either.
