Less recently, I saw Ricky Gervais on Oxford Street wearing a very Brentesque leather jacket.

Rikki Rockett looking at women's clothing stores on South Street in Philly (I supposedly just missed CeCe Deville in platform shoes).

David Cross making frowny faces while waiting for Blonde Redhead to start already at the Siren Festival this year.

Chris Weisz (star of Chuck & Buck and co-director of American Pie & About A Boy), waiting for the tube in London. I actually said hi and did the little polite fan thing.

What made me happiest is that our head of state, who is technically the most powerful person in the country, was simply walking down the street, no entourage, no cops, no security. Just walking down the street. It made me really proud of the country.

Claire Grogan. I was on the 91 on my way into work when I spotted her getting off at the stop outside Pentonville Prison - but I'm trying not to read too much into that. I wasn't sure it was her at first but then I noticed she had an Altered Images shoulder bag.

And there was I dreaming that she lived in Cumbernauld.

Is CIndy Blackman really related to RIck James? Asking for a friend, who has been dining out on that story for years.

Rod Stewart. I was passing through St Pancras Station on my lunch break and noticed a grand piano and drumkit had been set up. Coming back there was Rod and Jools Holland deep in discussion. His hair is still very impressive.

Ha I was walking into a big Central Park NYC playground maybe 10 years ago and noticed a dude right in front of me with that same unmistakable hair. He turned to hold the gate for me and indeed it was Rod.

Saw John Stamos and Ben Stiller the same day on a long walk to Tribeca. Huge day for celebraties.

I was on the number 30 bus in Dalston recently alongside Bobby Gillespie. And in a café in Birmingham with Jess Phillips. Never see anyone up here except Pat sodding Nevin everywhere I go.

Rod Stewart seems like a really decent bloke from what I can gather – filling in potholes, calling Sky News offering to pay for people's scans, joining in with some bloke who was busking on Piccadilly Circus. (Not all at the same time.)

(xp) I'm assuming "tenement kid" Boab was ripping up bus seats with a switchblade and generally menacing his fellow passengers.

Rod does seem a decent bloke but also he's a Tory, so, y'know. His performative good deeds are good things to do, but it'd be nice to think he also does things when there's not a press following watching him do it. Saying that, he does turn up in local pubs round here sometimes before Celtic games* and get his round in (never when I'm there, though my other half has seen him, so I can't add him to the celebrity spotting thread in my own right, closest I get to watching football in the pub with a celeb is Paolo Nutini)

* Probably because we're right next to the airport - Tom D will be aware of his old haunts of the Wee Barrel and the Watermill Hotel

Getting a round in? That doesn't sound like Rod, he's notoriously the most tight fisted man in rock music... apart from Ray Davies of course.

I ran into Joe Biden at a CVS in Wilmington, DE on Easter Sunday in 2017. Got to say hello and shake his hand. I think that has to be the high water mark for my celebrity sightings.

I was less than 50 ft away from Bob Weir at the San Francisco airport once.

Banal celebrity sighting: I got on a train with John Inverdale last week. He was carrying a golf bag and looked like he'd just got up.

That will only mean something to a particular subset of UK posters and even to them will mean less than a shrug.

Talking of banal "celebrity" sightings, I just this minute saw Ian Blackford on Holloway Road. He was hand in hand with his wife (I assume), which was kind of sweet.
