i will totally take a day trip to western mass sometime! your record store looks awesome.

is the kid playing a harmonica in that photo? punk rock! he should totally jam with my 11-year-old nephew. my li'l nephew is super cool. he owns four guitars and he can really shred--he studies guitar solos by watching youtube videos on repeat, and he can play 'enter sandman' at double-speed and stuff. his favorite bands are metallica, megadeth, and slayer.

Yet to see 'em live.

Is it just me or does Donald Miller look a bit like Green Gartside in that album sleeve?

i was forced to drink cold soup out of an ice luge right before borbetomagus started...long story. this night was totally noise, 100% noise

geeta, Monday, 13 June 2011 05:19 (twelve years ago) link

so gutted i missed the show with rangda before xmas, snowed in with work and actual snow

straightola, Monday, 13 June 2011 11:32 (twelve years ago) link

yeah--imagine three guys who look like they could be your dad, dishing out some of the most spectacular noise you can imagine. there were something like 15 effects pedals on stage...the two saxophones are run through all kinds of effects, like what'd happen if you ran all your jazz records through a juicer under extreme amplification

three years pass...

Anyone caught the Borbetomagus doco A Pollock of Sound?

"Filmmaker Jef Mertens brings a raw, urgent, and unpolished vision focusing on a band that has spent almost four decades defining and redefining the boundaries of music.
Pioneers of improvised noise music, Borbetomagus are known for the aggressive, double saxophone attack of Don Dietrich and Jim Sauter and the guitar noise of Donald Miller.

The band members tell their story with the help of artists, writers, photographers, and filmmakers that include noted critic Byron Coley, drummer Chris Corsano, guitarist Thurston Moore, Hijokaidan and others.

Includes archival footage and previously unreleased recordings."
